North West RIBsters

Several years ago some RIBsters used to meet to talk about future RIB events in the North West of the country and generally enjoy a beer together from time to time. After many requests to meet again from veteran and new RIBsters, Kevin Goulding has booked a room at a suitable watering hole to meet again. At this first meeting Kevin will put on a short 'Slide Show' about an adventurous RIB Trip to Alaska to start the ball rolling.

Anyone interested should contact Kevin on 01606 41448 day, or 01606 892800 eve for further information and directions if required, a small map can be posted on request. Bar food available.

Venue: The Chetwode Arms - Higher Whitley, on the A49 in mid Cheshire. Date: Thursday 6th March 2003. Time: 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.

NB: small charge to cover room hire.

If you ever consider a trip to the Isle of Man, look me up.

I can provide tide times, mooring details, good B & B's etc.

And if I ever save up enough for a bigger boat........

Hi folks

Glad to see there is more life in the North West

Got a few trips planned this year but only have approx dates at present, need to link in with school holidays.

Milford Haven to Fleetwood, Late April/early May ish prob a bank holiday, poss a two day trip stopping over in north wales.
First trip for the new RIB bringing her home

Isle of Man somtime in July, prob late July for long weekend.
Likley end up a a round IOM trip.

Fleetwood to Milford Haven Early August
Milford Haven to Fleetwood Late August (Taking boat on holiday for 2 weeks)

Ireland, prob late Sept but to be confirmed if I have enough days holiday left.

Also I fancy a big trip next year if anyone is mad enough to join me. My first thought was up to Scotland and a quick hop across to Iceland, the other idea was across to Norway, Anyone interested ?. Just need to convince the famaily to join me.

I will put actual dates once I have them but anyone is welcome to join me if they wish. May even have room on the boat on some of the trips.

Will try and make the meet up Kevin would be nice to put some faces to names. Will confirm but count me in for now.

Regards Gary

Roll on the summer !! (and my new RIB)

Well some of us do - we've been out at least once every month this winter (and every other winter since Noah was lad) not just working but also a cruise or two, some fishing and getting some photos in, but I don't see any other ribs out here except ours (and our c/g boat or the Atlantic 75 lifeboat). They seem to all disappear around the end of sept. Hurry up with that new boat Gary, we need some company out here!

Im boatless at the moment so sorry we cant join you,Im expecting delivery around September of this yr,where we will join in all the experditions we can if she is on time.It will be good to see the other North west Ribs and do a bit of offshore ribbing. When I owned the yacht we found that whenever we went offshore there was nobody arround, they were in tha club house drinking.

Our plans are Hazy as far as Home port as I have a Lounching RNLI trailer and tractor. The problem is the rib doesnt fit on it,and any re welding can only be done when the boat arrives and is mesured up here in the North West.

Next yr have to be in Gigha for May,then open to all suggestions.

If the boat is here Gary we will be bringing here up from Thames port by sea, around late September. So if it is late on in the season a joint trip form Millford Haven may be on the Cards, but as you know it may be later on as it takes 2 months to ship from Vancouver.

So we will see.

Cant waight.

Crazyhorse.

Latest on new RIB is early March, which has not changed last couple of times I spoke to Ribcraft. Hopefully this will be the date it arrives. getting close now and I am getting frustrated

Wont be coming up NW till May though Dave. Got some work, fit out, antifoul etc down Milford Haven first.

When it does arrive I will let EVERYONE know.

Regards Gary

Tshirts, shorts and sunburn? You can't be in the same North West that I'm in!

Once I've got the SIB I might join you out a few times during the summer if that's alright.

Just back in, glorious night - nearly flat calm, crystal clear stars, moonlight. Mate on the island had a problem on the adjacent island of Great Britain so we launched one of the work boats (5.8 Tornado, 75 four stroke) to get him over, then had a run.
Yesterday weather c***p - SW 7/8. Sunday, son missed last ferry, launched our own rib (4.85 Zodiac, 50 four stroke) to recover (i.e. stop him having an excuse to spend night on mainland with girlfriend). Absolutely flat sea, bright moon. Had to go for a run, only did about 30 miles but spending time with a pod of porpoises was worth the frozen fingers.
