Well, I've done Le Harvre - Poole solo in a Force 5, so hopefully Poole - St Vaast in company will be do-able in the same.

At least the wind should keep the fog away

Hope to see you in Cherbourg!

David

Well GD has promptly decided to go to Canada this week and won't be back 'till Saturday morning, I have got my university application to do, and oh yeah, we're moving house

Wish you all the best, would love to be joining you to meet up with new faces and old friends. Don't forget your RYA membership card, 15% off in Cherbourg I think

Needles - Cherbourg - Needles

End of season RIB Raid 2013 looks to be on

Forecast for Saturday looks to be improving as the day moves forward and Sunday is looking good for coming back. As the wind is forecast to drop on the Saturday I propose to leave Yarmouth now at 12.00 to be at the Needles shortly afterwards. This will also make it a little easier for those travelling down and launching in the morning.

Sunday departing Cherbourg at 12.00am to take advantage of the improving weather on both sides of the channel for the return passage.

Therefore meet off Yarmouth at 12 on Saturday, fuelled and ready to go.

I will call La Pizza in cherbourg (recommended by Pikey Dave) and see if its possible to book upstairs for most of us. If theres any better ideas let me know.

Depart Sunday at 12am as mentioned above for a pleasant cruise back, stopping off in the Lee of the Needles for hugs and kisses

Comms will be VHF channel 8 for the crossing.

Boat phone 07547 567554

If your still coming can you let me know so I can inform the marina and La Pizza of possible numbers

If its the first time on a RIBnet cruise it might be worth reading this RIBnet Forums - Announcements in Forum : Upcoming RIB cruises

See you all Saturday

Take care on that Friday crossing, the extended forecast is calling for some pretty good winds:

(excerpt) "Thames, Dover, Wight, Portland, Plymouth, north Biscay, strong winds or gales expected late Friday through Saturday, with risk severe gales at first in eastern Channel, winds moderating later Saturday to end of period."

Bon voyage!

Alternative route out of Portsmouth

I am aboard with Gentleman Racer. We are coming out of Portsmouth and after discussions with the powers that be, it is more than likely that we will route via the East of IOW and straight down to Cherbourg . If anybody fancies this as an option due to location/launch area, then you are welcome to come this route.

Just so you know the distance from #4 buoy ex Portsmouth is approx 72nms. If you are interested in this option either pm me or call on 07778 646518.

Final checks tomorrow but most websites are now starting to agree that the weather is starting to play ball for the weekend. One site is forecasting light air for Cherbourg bit of a difference to the start of the week.

Everything is coming together nicely. I won't book any fooderies, I'm sure we'll find something when we get there, the top deck of La Pizza is still looking a good option. I'll email the marina tomorrow to give them the heads up that there might be a number of RIBs turning up for the Saturday night
