We too have been round. But as Chris says, it's a great social event and much more fun watching others bob along as some bits are boring.

More importantly I do believe there are people here who wouldn't go it alone. It can be confidence, lack of navigational skills, worries of boat size/sea and passengers if it blew up or niggling doubt about boat reliability. All the aforementioned used to apply to me and I wish I'd been on the forum then.

If going together combined with few caring sorts willing to sweep along with smaller boats removes any of the above, I'll be a happy bunny.

Last year we enabled all boats to reach morfa nefyn by going as a group. Had two certain boats been alone, they would have had an unpleasant journey back. their crew/passengers were tired and uncomfortable as it got rougher. However they were reallocated to bigger boats and the skippers had a ball flying off the waves. Safety, fun and pleasure. Result.

I had two boats email me thanking us for doing what we did, they didn't need help but were glad there were boats following behind who could help if fuel filters blocked, engines stalled etc. They enjoyed the day as they felt safer.

This is why I'm coming, going to be my 1st big trip out and It's going to give me more confidence plus being on your own can be a bit boring at times.

You'll be up at the front in a 6m +redbay storm force with twin 90s, whatever the weather!

TBH it's great there's some round island veterans to lead the way. I've only been fully round once myself despite doing the strait dozens of times. North of abberfraw and moelfre Id prefer others to lead us around the areas of overfalls etc.
