Should be okay for a trip to Cowes though. Looks like the wind is coming in late saturday and hanging around for the sunday. Lets hope it slips back 12 hours as this weather at the moment is perfect.

Not being too familiar with the wind and wave patterns over there, how lumpy/wet are we saying a W4 will make it? I'm bring about 17 people over and will need to prepare them or worse case, call it off!
At what point would you say NO? or BUMPY AND WET?

Milo it's worth waiting a few days for the most accurate forecasts.

Then it could be worth taking 'wind over tide' & distance to travel (& see below!) into consideration when making final preparations for your trip.

Thanks for latest weather updates! Keep 'em coming!!!!

Going down to the sea again...

Note to self : Aging Youth will be boarding at Portsmouth.

Paul ('jackeen') 07790 551442 and Jimbo (or any of the Portsmouth boats really! ) will be happy to be contacted re: mustering at The Lightship.

Comms Chn 77 (& QHM always reminds us to pay attention to Chn 11 within the jurisdiction of the Harbour).

Is anyone willing to act as point of contact/rounder-upper from the West?

Please keep weather updates coming

Kathleen & Paul

Milo72 the forcasts will chop and change a bit until Wednesday evening/thursday morning when they become more accurate. The overnight forcast from both ECMWF and weather online have both improved overnight. Wind now W 3-4. The next forcast from ECMWF for 12:00 Saturday will be available at about 19:00 tonight, I will update when I get it.

Lovely. many thanks.

Now, I have another Question.... England play Wales on Saturday 17.30 in the 6 nations. We're not going to make it back in time so can anyone recommend a pub in the Lymington area that's likely to show it? bear in mind, we'll be towing a 7.5 and a 10.5!
I've spoken to the Mayflower and they only have a portable!

Day on the water, good company, bit of lunch, beating wales at rugby.... an excellent day!

Still on for the trip ... but 2 quick questions!

If any of the Lymington 'fleet' could advise on a gathering time I'd really appreciate it.

Secondly, anyone know owt about pennant etiquette - in short, can I bring the biggest feckin' Irish flag I've got and stick it on me a-frame, without risking the wrath of the gin-toting, sailyboatin' Godfreys?

Finally those that have stuck their hands up for the Guinness tops, best try to find me at The Folly (my origins should be pretty obvious on the day ) as I've no way of knowing who you are

looking forward to seeing that bad boy flag!

I'm aiming to be at Lymington 0930-0945 and leaving the pontoon by 1015. IanM and I took 40mins to pompey last time so we should be there around 11. [which I believe is the plan???]
My number is 07971 25 85 15, feel free to call if you want...

Only need Air Conditioning if you've been out on the Curry the night before Richard. Then being up wind of you will definatly have its advantages

Thanks Milo, my ferry from Ireland gets into Wales just after midnight, so plan drive to Lymington, have a kip, collect the boat at 0900 and be on the water by 0930. I'll give you a call on the morning if that's ok.

(ps - if you see a fogged-up black nissan x-trail, will ya give it a shake to wake me up)

(pps - just seen that you've got a 7m ribcraft with a 250 suzi ... what speed are ye planning to cruise over at? - may need to lose some weight over next few days, and bring some flippers, to keep up)
