used to have quite a laugh with the range safety boys from Castle martin range, they had stories of muppets tying up to targets to go diving

Lulworth cove can get rather busy if its a nice day, more than 10 ribs may be a problem or even 10 ribs may be a problem. Chapmans pool is wonderful but again rather small for lots of boats. Someone mentioned warbarrow bay, definately a good idea or the beach to the west within warbarrow bay, Mupe Bay would be perfect.

What about a Picnic on the beach at Mupe Bay, everyone bring something to eat along ?

As to the Ranges people keep saying about them being closed I think what they mean is they are Open, they are closed when firing is going on and open when no firing so walkers can access them, they are usually open in the summer more often than not so should not be an issue.

So Mupe Bay ? Picnic ?

Hi - is this going ahead ? If so is anyone planning at Bowleaze / Weymouth area ? I might be able to make it - and after a few years of lurking on here with only the odd post and pm, it would be good to meet up with a few of you.

Hi Mark
For the whole of August the ranges are NOT active, therefore safe passage through for the whole month.
In the aviation business, we use the term closed - Safe and open - how lucky do you feel!
The other term you may hear is, Hot - firing taking place and Cold - no activity.

We have done charters to Weymouth and knowing about the ranges, we were confident about our track and timing, the range boat tried to intercept and failed miserably. Finally called us on 16.

There is a few smaller RIB/SIB's going from Portland, also an FB event page set up. If weather is kind and there are others going from Poole plan to launch at Baiter if conditions not so good will launch at Portland
