Well, I got thoroughly P'd off with the weather after last weekend (F8-10) so after a lovely float around on Thursday I hauled out for the winter. Been nice weather since then. ... but it won't last.

Why Lochgilphead? seems an odd choice given places close at hand?

We are not actually going from Lochgilphead, just heading over that way. Any suggestions on the best place to launch in that area? Wanting to head out through the sound of Jura.

Thats what I meant, Lochgilphead only gets you into upper Loch Fyne when the west coast is only a few miles further on

I know, I know, I know........

Still, I spent a lovely day today scrubbing all the slime off the antifouling and digging the trim and tilt out of the biggest crop of barnacles I've ever seen, so that was fun wasn't it? ........................ Er, no, it wasn't, was it?

Someone doing a righting excercise up there resulted in a call out for the ILB a couple of years ago as some punter on the shore panicked and pulled out their mobile and phoned the CG I think it cost them a few kwid

launch sites

Try Ardfern or Craobh.

Both offer great facilities and are close by.

Njoy.

sd of jura

hi,

just catching up here, -

might be in the sound of jura myself tomorrow night, - there's been a couple of really good looking evenings lately but - will see if its as misty as it was coming back in from Glasgow by car tonight.

And might be floating around in Craignish/ corry / grey dogs on friday - some work got postponed - and the boat is on the water, so I feel obliged to use it,

launch point - I'd favour Ardfern at the marina, - so long as you watch out for that big hole in the middle ( for the yacht keel?) when its low tide - its good its easy, and its only 10 - 15 minutes to Dorus Mor, - depending on how big your engine is - and the marina are very helpful,

might see you out there,

Chris.

Hi, Thanks for that. We ended up going from Tayvallich. Weather and scenery were fantastic.

I would add Lochmelfort Yacht Haven to that list.

Was out on Friday, went down Sound of Shuna, Sound of Luing, Round Garvellachs and back through Cuan. Fantastic conditions, better than anything we had over the summer!
