Planning trip, launching RIVER MERSEY, following coast line to ANGLESEA via MENIA STRAITS. around to HOLY ISLAND [treader bay ] camping the night .retuning back the next day . any one done this any info welcome tides some were to camp ,moor up fuel[petrol] ect or any one wecometo tag along

mid week some time next 3 or 4 weeks quite flexable weather permiting [do u have to go down the straits on a perticular tide ]

Make sure that you time it so that you are going through the swellies at slack water, preferably HW as well. It can be done at low water, even LW springs, but it is much more tricky, especially if you haven't done it before. Also, I'd buy the admiralty chart because it shows the straits in a lot more detail than an imray. Watch the change of bouyage, I think it is at caernarfon. With all of the sand banks it could catch you out.

If you haven't been down the straits before i think you are best with 1 other boat as it can be quite tricky.

Unfortunately we are not out mid week until the end of May, just weekends.

Little warning about the Straights!

One of my friends from wales was on the Straights the other day and was following his Passage plan,

When he hit the bottom,

He marked it on his GPS and double checked his posistion when he got back and he should have been in 4meters of water.

He was somewhere near Plas Menai.

So watch out the sand bank has slipped.

good idea but what dates inmind.
may be interested with my rib.
go diving a lot on anglesey petrol avalable at treadur bay but need fuel can.also bunk houses avalable at the dive shop access from water. also 2 camp sites near bay
