Could it be resurected to be a 'head West to a beach or bay ( Chapmans Pool ?) , anchor/ raft up ,take a picnic and head home same day cruise' ?
I can still do most weekends that have been given, but also like the idea of heading West for the day. Chapmans Pool very good if you peace and views. Would like to push a little further West and suggest Lulworth Cove as the rock formations and the bay are fab. You can also get under the arch at Durdle Door and see where the muppet who jumped from the top almost killed himself. You would not believe the drop .....

Probably, I am now maybe trying to buy a house next Monday, so don't have time to think about it at the moment!

Can't please everybody, and I can make any of those dates, but the 1/2 and 8/9 looking better. So, i'm keeping quiet, maybe two trips are needed, and maybe I won't be able to go at all depending on if i get this house. I should really stop looking at auction catalogues!

I spent ages scouring google earth, and did not have much luck. Someone suggested Weymouth beach is possible, others suggested no beach camping in dorset. Portland according to the ranger guy is not possible, even though someone on here suggested it happens regularly. Maybe one of those diver places treerat suggested, or a normal b&b would be a better option.

Like I said before, 1/2 Aug is probably not the best if people want to try the beach thing, cos you'll be up in the night worrying about high tide (if I read it right)

What about Lulworth Cove as 'base camp'?

8 th & 9th are better for me family & tide wise . Easy out of Christchurch from 10am till 4/5 pm & same back in on Sunday.

I'd be sleeping on my boat so can keep an eye on anthying afloat . Lulworth cove OK - all down to weather and anyone else plan ?

Can you just anchor in the cove?

Not sure if there is any mileage left in this as wot seemed a good idea is now slowly slipping apathetically away it seems.
I am happy to arrange or help arrange this but I need a vote on which weekend, either the 1st or 2nd weekend in August even if it turns out not to be an overnighter...(shame tho). Beyond that I cant make in any case. I would have thought that the weather window was equally important as the tides favouring the 2nd weekend.....
So I guess its over to you who expressed an interest previously to see if they are still interested in the trip.....

I am still up for it but my crew goes on holiday in early August. I suggest you guys decide on a date and we'll come along if we can.

I vote for an overnighter in a hotel in Lulworth.

Andy

8th & 9th for me. I'd be planning to kip on the boat , but it just seems to be a tuffy to arrange due to hols etc .

Depending on weather I may do something like it even if its just a long day out. Anyone out to Swanage for Sat 25th & red arrows etc ?
