Jura whisky trip anyone...

Finally sourced a decent tow truck and debating a drive up and then trip across to Jura for a distillery tour. Also encompass a corryvreckan experience if possible.

Perhaps back end of summer, late Aug, early sept.

Anyone done it?
Anyone up for coming who knows the waters and area so we don't die?
Anyone just up for coming?

Discuss.....

Sounds like a good plan.
Every time i go up through the Jura Sound by boat veers off to the left and ends up tied to the pier at the Jura Hotel.

Well in for a penny of Ribnet bashing, in for a pound. A good friend who comes on most of the trips has a Disco 3. That manages double digit mpg unlike our RR LWB 1994 V8

Paul
Great area to cruise, suggest you use Ardfern or Croabh Haven as Base.the distillery on Jura is at Craighouse one of the most beautiful ports of call on the West coast.Corry is great to play in with proper planning and caution. If you don't fancy it try the Grey dogs In between Scarba and Lunga fantastic. For a complete change loch Tarbert on the west coast of Jura is a very special place. For distilleries the next Island down Islay is the place ,loads of single malts Ardbeg does great food. plan your trip petrol isn't always easy to get .Take a good camera you never know what you might see.

This is something I might be up for depending on the date you choose.

All things going well we should be doing a similar trip in May at the ERR

Jura Distillery and Corryvreckan

Take a look at Easdale RIB Rendezvous - Home

This year's event is a circumnavigation of Jura so your two points of interest are included in the information which is available on the site.
I can understand the recommendations of the marinas but do also take a look at Easdale just north of the Corryvreckan. The harbour is excellent, there are both self catering cottages and B&B accommodation. Some even camp.

Another advantage of Easdale is you can come and chat to us for information on local RIB venues. WE spend a lot of time in the Corryvreckan and yes we do visit distilleries as and when required (Scottish Whisky Association photoshoot of Islay and Jura distilleries Oct 2013 was our last extended visit)

You are of course also welcome to join us at the Easdale RIB Rendezvous 10/11 May 2014.

Tony
