Isle of Wight

Dear all,

Depending on sea conditions, I will do a trip from Newport (Belgium) to the isle of Wight fronm the 5th of Spetember to the 9th.
1st day Newport (belgium) - Portsmouth
2nd day Portsmouth - Southampton - Cowes
3rd Day Cowes - Ryde (round of Wight)
4th day Ryde - Brighton
5th day Brighton - Newport (Belgium)

Don't hesitate if you want to join us for a day or more.

I wont leave Belgium if we have more than 6 Bft.

Cheers

Hi Gilles

You will be tired at the end of that week. Just wondered what speed you tend to run at and what your estimated fuel consumption is for the trip?

Cheers and good luck

Will

I will try to run at 20 knots, leaving Belgium around 6.30 am, and hope to be in Portsmouth 7 or 8 hours later. I can t missed the lunch !!
About fuel, in the hardest condition i will do 1 liter for a nautical miles. i m leaving with 200 liters in the hull and have 2 addtional plastic tanks of 20 liters

cheers and fingers crossed for a 3bft

Gilles, we are also from Belgium and planning such a trip next year (2013). We think in august or september for 1 week.

1st day Zeebrugge-Brighton
2nd Brighton-Lymington
3-4th around the island-poole...
5th back to Brighton
6th Zeebrugge

How was your trip in September or is it canceled ?

hi mate,

it was AWSOME, a pretty nice wethear excpet between Calais and Dungeness, waves about 1.5m, totally sweat but great. after that 2BFT max and a sunny weather.
Brighton : really nice marina, take care that there s only 1 hotel next to the marina and when it s a bit sunny or on a week end, it s fully booked (i slep on the boat)
Lymington, never been
the circum nav around the island is great, landscapes are so different

You cannot missed COWES, best spot of the region, so many boats to see, races etc...

southampton and Portsmouth are good too, marina are really huge

don t hesitate if you need more details, maybe we could meet once, don t know if you know our rib boat club, organising several trip in Belgium, netherlands, UK etc etc ...

het beste

Gilles,

Was your first stop in Brighton ? How long did it take for you to get over there ? I supose it's a 100 miles from Newport to Brighton.

I know there's only 1 hotel in the marina of Brighton so it's beter to make reservations.

Brighton - Lymington another 100 miles, Lymington is a very nice place. There's a B&B next to the harbor, the Bluebird.

We also did the tour arround the Island Wight in July 2012 with the Rib. Another day we went to Poole, also a must see. We like to go further : The Scilly's maybee in 2013 ?? You are in for such a trip ?

We saw the Club pneumatique in Raamsdonksveer Hollands last year, nice ribs !

If you have some pictures from your trip or from Brighton marina, please post them.

Hope we can meet next year.

Greetz

Strange, I don't see any pics on the site club pneumatique from the trip to the Scilly's this year.

1 way (8hrs) to Portsmouth is a long trip to do, respect!

Nice pics.
