tony t,

Thanks for your understanding.
However on the subject of finding a bed............
To give you an idea, the island has 80k residents. When the TT is on this number DOUBLES!!! Roughly another 80k visitors arrive.
Imagine how many beds are spare?
All spaces in hotels, B&Bs etc. are sold for 2/3/4 years ahead.
Unless you know someone, or are v. lucky the only SLIGHT chance is camping.
But all camp sites will say they are full, including campsite overflows, emergency campsites etc.
Believe me, it is almost impossible to find ANY accommodation.
I don't want to put anyone off, but........it is difficult.

Here is what I said to someone else who is thinking of coming, they asked about fuel, tides etc.

"OK the first thing is fuel.
Diesel is only available at the dockside and is v. difficult to obtain. The fuel is run by the fishermen's collective and you have to buy a card with a secret number on it. The place where you have to buy them is in Peel and they will want to know exactly how much you want! Peel is shut at weekends and runs normal office hours i.e. closes at pint-o-clock on Fridays! You then have to go to an unmanned point on either Douglas or Peel harbour walls.
You must climb up a ladder and start the pump. It is almost impossible to do this with only one guy as the pump times out before you can put the nozzle in your tank. More on this if you need it.
Otherwise all fuel must be bought (at IOM extortionate rates) from a garage. For this you will need a car (which can be available) and lots of cans (which are not).
Better by far to bring enough. I did Holyhead to Douglas, single handed in a Force 6, easy peasy. Its only 65nmiles so should be no probs even for a small petrol outboard.

Tides.
Let me know what month you are coming and to which port!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will then let you know the tide times for that port for that month.

Waypoints??
What for? Its open sea the whole way?

Timing.
You CAN come during TT fortnight. But you wont get ANY accommodation.
But if you just want to watch the races, I can give you, and to organise, enough cars to give you a lift to the best vantage point.
But unless you are sleeping on your boat....................

Anything else?"

don't worry Kerny, I'll answer for you ............. Yes Tony T, we think you're mad

I'd love to go to the TT, like d love to go to the Monaco GP, etc etc, but life's too short to spend a week stuck in queues, feet up telly on n beer o'clock, save you boat juice tokens for another weekend, The Isle Of Mann will still be there

Hi Brian
I'm thinking about Saturday the 21st June and Peel looks best, maybe we could meet up there with Willk and Dan if that dates okay, tides are good that weekend for Caernarfon
How's the accommodation in Peel looking any info would be great we would also like a group meal on Saturday night is there any place that could take a large booking

So who's up for this weekend ?

Peel is ALWAYS the best bet (for some reason I cant quite fathom at the moment!).
Accommodation in Peel-The Albany House is the best B&B.
Group meals-you could try the Creek Inn on the quayside right by the marina and there are a couple of others along East Quay.

Lets talk nearer the day when you are likely to know better numbers.

I bought my best ever T shirt at the TT.

Pic on the front was of a hugh canyon full of fire. (Obviously where the fire god lives!) On the cliff above two red indian type blokes are about to hurl in a young red indian girl as a peace offering.

Speech bubble comes up from the fire saying: "Oh God! Not another Virgin! Can't you send me a dirty old slag for once?"

Will pay good money to anyone who can find me that T shirt again - wife destroyed the last one - threw it on the bonfire!
