Just to let you all know Bilge Rat and Chris docked safely at Calshot and Daniel and I reached Lee on Solent slip with no probs - we've decided to pay to use Haslar slip next time because Lee was heaving with jetskiers when we got back and the swell made recovering the boats very awkward.

A superb day in excellent company and great to experience some new cruising areas. What an incredible turn out - I think I counted 12 RIBs at one point! The highlight for me was playing in the swell around the Needles which was fantastic fun, although it took Pete7's experience to make us realise that it would have taken another 4-5 hours to complete the circumnavigation from that point, due to the fact that the smaller RIBs were only making 8 knots through the chop!! Anyway, the Essex and Kent crews have unanimously agreed we're definitely up for another attempt

I think everyone was amazed and delighted to see Ageing Youth back at the helm so soon after his extraordinary adventure this week - must have taken a shedful of courage to climb back into a RIB just 4 days after that trauma. Well done, Kev!

Particular thanks to all the 'big' RIBs who so patiently accompanied us little 'uns all the way - trust it wasn't too pedestrian for you Thanks as well to Nick (Biggles) without whose military planning and organisational skills the whole event would not have taken place. Look forward to welcoming you on our patch very soon, Nick, for a cruise down the Thames and out to the World War 2 forts. Naturally that invitation applies to everyone else, too. And having taken over 3 hours to get back to Chelmsford tonight, you lot can come and experience some of our traffic jams next time.

No bloody wonder that poor whale expired in the Solent last week. I've never heard a RIB that sounds so much like an American Peterbilt Conventional lorry before, it was quite superb Not so sure about the clouds of noxious gases coming out the back, though

Less of the 'Sir', Kathleen. How many times have I told you that 'Mr.Davies' is quite sufficient.

Oh lordy lord I'm still wet and cold! I can't change my facial expression because I have so much salt encrusted on my face!

Just got the little rib out of the water and she's still just about in one piece. My seats have soaked up so much water that they squelch when you sit on them and my arse hurts like an absolute bugger! Despite that, me and mike had a good time bumping about the solent (we're used to it now!) and meeting all you guys, matching faces to user names!

You guys have got some nice ribs and kit as well (robin, I love that outboard of yours!). Mike and I felt somewhat left out wearing only board shorts and T-shirts and with no fancy electronics!

Its a shame none of you managed to get all the way around, sods law said that it went completely flat after you all went home! I drove (in car) to compton (south west side) in the afternoon and it was flat as a pancake! never mind, another day.

Hope you all had a nice meal and beer in the kings head...I love that pub (anyone have the steak? they do good steak ).

Did any of you guys have to pay to stay in the habour? Also, what happened to Pete around the needles?!

Great day, cheers guys.

Tim

PS just had a thought of a possible future get together. All rib down to yarmouth one weekend. Stay in the B&Bs and Hotels in Yarmouth, enjoy the beer in the evening and do some ribing/bbq's/watersports etc during the days? I would be happy to do some sorting out this end. Just a suggestion.
