Anybody planning on going, weather permitting we will be there.
We will be in Whithorn friday evening and will try to get across on the saturday.
Hopefully with more success than last year where we turned back due to the weather, with no regrets!

If all goes to plan we are leaving Largs Friday morning, stopping of at Portpatrick for lunch then on to Peel with the gate being open at 19.19 hours. Head back to Largs on the Monday when the gate opens at 09.07 hours.

Callum,

As I live in Peel, would you like me to meet you on arrival?

Bruce,

Could you give me a rough idea of your ETA? I appreciate it will only be approx.

We did get across but didn't get there to 1pm due to the weather. We got back but had a three hour trip at around 9knots and got back after dark.
We did see the Sidecar races and the start and abort of the superbike races after one lap[ due to rain.
There were no pontoons and the only RIB in Douglas was the Fyne Wotsit RIB, since we were later that planned we just walked up to the races as we didn't want to put anyone out, not that we got any signal till we got into Douglas anyway!
Anybody else make it across?

Hi Bruce, Ian (Cypman) and I waited for you until...er, we got bored. Around 12.30 or so. Anyway we had a good time laughing at the arrival of the Olympic flame. It arrived at the quay in a huge fanfare of police cars, runners and sideshow freaks. It was taken onto the lifeboat which then launched down the slipway meeting just about every IOM government boat in
existance, each loaded with hangers-on and media types who filmed and photographed furiously. The lifeboat went across the harbour (about 150 yards) and the flame-carrier then disembarked.
Show over.
Anyway, back in Peel...........Callum showed up early in his beautiful Redbay, he had had a good rundown in perfect conditions on the Friday. There were several other ribs from N. Ireland, on the breakwater whom I did not get chance to talk too as they were, ehem, rather unsteady on their feet and I have trouble tuning my ears to their speech, especially when said speech is slighly slurred.
Peel marina was packed to the gunnels and it may have been possible to cross from side to side by walking across the decks of the boats moored there.
It would probably be wise to book ahead for a space in the marina (either Douglas or Peel) if you intend to visit during TT week.

TT Weekend

Thanks to Brian for meeting up with us on arrival at Peel.
We had a fantastic trip to the Isle of Man, sea was flat calm allowing us to cruise at 30kn taking 3 1/2 hours on the two runs.
Never seen so many boats in Peel harbour and the atmosphere in the town was electric with a great festival day on the Sunday. Shame the weather had turned cold & windy.
