Its time to start thinking about the IOM TT trip again. Hopefully this time we might actually
a. get there
and
b. see some racing!
There may be a couple of more local (to me) RIBs thinking of coming this year but if they don't I may even come to NI to meet up with that view and go from there.
Apparently my missus owes willk a drink or two........

Are we up for it again this coming year?
I have the AIS for the foggy crossing of the shipping channel on order already! May even think of an overnight stay this time if it can be done?

Well Bruce, good luck with your arrangements.
Needless to say I will meet you and probably Ian (Cypman) as well, depending on your dates. This time I will bring a larger car!
I dont hold out much luck on your booking accomodation though, unless, of course, you booked back in 2005!!

Hmmm, oddly, I appear to have missed The Cull to the bilges for once

Anyway, I won't be taking a rib to IOM in 2011. But very happy to liase/assist/crew with/for those that are.

That pint is only growing in value

There is a slight possibility I may be able to cadge a bed on a hardboat coming over for the weekend, still looking at this to see if its possible....

Bruce,

I certainly dont want to put you off, but........every campsite is full. Even the overflow campsites are full. Even the emergency camp-by-the-roadside is looking dodgy.
Best bet is your boat option.

I have seen Italian and German bikers hammering on the doors of buildings that look like hotels, but aren't. I have to tell them that everywhere is full. Their looks of disbelief! How come everywhere is so full? I have to tell them its TT week-the island is simply flooded with tourists. I dont know the actual numbers but it must be approaching the whole population of the island doubling.

I welcome your attendance but I dont want you to be disappointed-you'll get a great welcome from me and Cypman anyway.

The worst case scenario is we just come for the day again.
I am still hoping to find a bed somewhere but if not its only an hour back to the mainland.
if there is going to be a NI contingent we may leave from campbeltown but if not it will be Isle of Whithorn again.
AIS is here and just needs to be fitted along with the two new batteries that arrived on Xmas eve..........should make the journey slightly less worrying, at least anything over 350 tons or so we would know it was heading for us......

Its now on my calendar for Saturday 4th June. We will go anyway but it would be nice to have company. For any RIB's north of the border it is only a short run over from Isle of Whithorn which has fre parking and a good slip to launch from. The B&B we stayed at was just beside the field across from the slip to store the RIB so easy enough for overnight parking.

It would be great to meet up with everyone again on IOM and have a few wet ones in the bar alongside the marina again.

Anyone else up for it out of Ardglass?

Bruce why dont you take your dive gear with you and stay awhile there are four wrecks just off IOW and another two to the west of the peninsular. If you fancy it contact Newton Stewart diving club for details. Just thought it maybe of interest to you as a keen dunker!

I might be again depending on exams one doing gcses ane on doing a levels so will have to check timetables

OK, now I actually have the RIB back I am puting it back together with a view to going to the IOM as usual. It may be tight as I have some remedial work to do to fix new things screwed up when it was being repaired (don't ask!) but as long as everything ordered turns up in the next week or so I should be fine.
Who else is going?
We will be heading over from Isle of Whithorn the same as last year, anybdy else thinking of going from here?

We are bringing Fyne Pioneer down to Fleetwood and running across from there, but might well see you guys close to the island.

We are going to be there for nearly three weeks, well there and the Isle of Man, we are doing a combination of diving and watching the bikes. Might well see you down there.
