Inaugural RIBnet Conference

I have always found that in attempting to organise a cruise, meeting or whatever, you cannot please everyone ALL of the time. Based on already established cruises and other activities
(ie the calendar is very full) weather considerations and distances to travel my suggestion is as follows:

Date: 10 & 11 May 2003

Venue: Plymouth.

Specific Meeting place: Mayflower Marina

This would not be to be a ‘cruise’, but rather an informal get-together where like-minded people (virtual people is what we are currently) put faces to names, do some local trips, mess about in the boats, drink and drink again have a meal in the evening etc.

As we near the intended date, in conjunction with the 'locals' I will try and get discounted rates for hotels and restaurants.

I do not want to sound draconian, but many people will have other ideas, some good some bad - ultimately a view must be taken of all the issues and everyone who is interested should try and make the effort and join us on this week-end.

Your comments are always welcome.

Nice one Charles

I think this is the only way to go -- just pick a date and go for it. Some won't be able to make it, but you'll never please everyone!

Absolutely. Have done the organisational thing this year I can echo those comments! Pick the date - it wont suit all but at least we have something to plan to. Its in my diary for next year. (I want to meet up with all the other Plymouth Poly/UoP alumni!)

Alan

No promises, but I wouldn't be surprised if one or two people came down to Land's End in their boats to meet you and escort you up to Plymouth........

Hi Charles

Count me in. I'll see if I can get Bill and his SIB to come as well.

How about a SIB race?
