Brian

Thanks. I use to launch my GEMINI for diving at Brixam and know the are well the main things I mean i.e. PUBS, the slip way etc LOL.
Will launch it from there.
On my boat is about 1 hour @ a cruising speed 40 knots (that is the cruising speed of the boat slower is abit bumpy) and 3800-4000 revs consumption 1.5 litres/mile.
However due to wife and kids will take it easy at 25 knots 2200-2600 revs and consumption not more than 1.2-1.5 the very max litre/mile.
Will be GREAT to meet you all there.

GREAT STUFF

Ok Brian -- looks like there are overfalls in the Bolt-head area. How far out would you ordinarily cruise? I was thinking a litttle further west, north west, but as you say, we can get down to the final details closer to the time.

Why do we all wish our lives away? I want to go this week-end!

Charles,
Overfalls, smoverfalls, listen would I steer you wrong?
Bolt Head is useful because:
-it is prominent-you will see the cliff rising to it's peak a long way out to sea
-the wind is normally s-s/w. Therefore if either of us has to wait for the other, we can do so in Halfmoon Bay in the wind shadow
-it is almost exactly half-way (for us) which is what I thought you said
If we don't meet there (and hey, the choice is entirely yours, no problemo!) the next bit of the run is out to sea until we come to Yealm Head. This is not so prominent and is virtually in Plymouth Sound.
Anyway, what are you doing on the system? I thought you were going away on holiday?

May I suggest, when we get nearer the date, we all swap mobile phone nos., boat names and descriptions and use channel 82?/ 13? as a calling channel, so we can liase and meet up for the run down to Plymouth?

Hart, if I have an engine sorted by then, I'll challenge you!
I'm now very close to having the SIB, as over the weekend I was darn sarf doing some work for wavehumper. Hopefully if I've done a decent job I'll be back down there for a week or so after christmas, which will give me some money to put towards an outboard!

Charles - I use a waypoint of: 050 12.10N; 003 46.67W to keep away from Mew Stone and Little Mew Stone - also comfortably away from the overfalls. From that waypoint, approach on a heading of 000T (transits for approach to Salcombe) and hang a left as soon as the cove on your port beam. Mind you, if you're coming over directly from Jersey, you could just set a waypoint for the middle of the cove (50 12.71N; 003 46.83W) and motor straight in. Approach from SE usually quite flat, (unless it's wind against tide of course!)

Maybe see you there

Hart! Hart! The last person to call me Hart was my form teacher 33 years ago (oh the youth of today, what will we do with them?)[well that's not quite true. TLS (Davison) refers to me as Hart but he is from Newcastle!].

Charles. Are we going to have nice big name badges so we know whom we are talking to?

Hi all,
Yup, will be there in either mine or the Scout boat.
Alan: Sounds like a brilliant idea.
Cheers,
Andy: who is very sad because his girlfriend did not take the hints and get him the SOC book.

Is the odd 'sportsboat' permitted to join the convoy I'm afraid I haven't got anything else at the moment . It would be nice to swing a few lanterns in Plymouth.
