Brian,

My plan is to come down on friday pm but we may have to leave departure til after school now crazy canadian is working which would see us down there pretty late. I'm guessing no room to park 'Zu, boat and trailer outside the hotel? Would we be able to drop the rig in the marina carpark that late at night d'you think? (Say 10pm)

Alan

Having thought about some of the options for a moment, your suggestion would seem best.
Why don't you ring the Marina on 01752 556633, and make a specific arrangement. They will then enter it into the security log and the night staff will admit you.
There is top class 24 hour CCTV and live security on duty at all times, so once inside it's like Fort Knox.

PS Don't anyone be intimidated by the slipway there.
I have not only launched my 5.5m and 6.2m boats there countless times, but also Alan's Scorpion, Blue Ice at 7.75m and several tones in weight...nae bother lads. There is also lots of space at the top of the slip for casual parking, changing, eating sarnies, taking on and off trailer boards, smoking, idling and generally NANCYING ABOUT.
There are no parking restrictions or charges, just people sensibly not getting in each others way and showing consideration for each other.
NOTE. No laws and it works fine.

Deletions . . .

Unfortunately (very unfortunately) I am not going ot be able to make it to the RIBnet meet in Plymouth. Hopefully there will be enough people present who have actually seen me to convince the rest of you that I do exist!

This does mean that there is a single room available at the hotel. Let me know if anyone wants it!

I am still on track for Orkney though . . .

John

John, I'll believe that you exist if I can take your room booking

Oh, and Keith... about that crewing opportunity...

So, JK can’t make it.
Well, we are all mortified chaps, aren’t we? (Riffraff, what did I tell you about mentioning that Hugo might come along?).
Still, in Charles absence, I have had a word with the Mayor of Plymouth and cancelled the Civic Welcome and the Freedom of the City Ceremony.
I have also had a word with the Household Cavalry, who were going to accompany JK in the mayoral coach in its state drive through the city. The lads were prostrate with grief. They were really looking forward to it. (Apparently some of them say they “know” JK, whatever that means.) I said “Never mind lads, there will be another candidate along soon”. (Mr. AP I was thinking of….)
Anyway that’s it. Doom and disaster. Send you rose petals back to the florists and get a refund. Stop practising your “hosannas”. We will just have to wear black for the whole weekend.

Actually, I have been thinking about this.
If JK isn’t there, does that mean we can enjoy ourselves?
We don’t have to polish our boats for inspection either, do we?
This gets better and better.
Has anybody actually met this guy? Does he really exist or is he just a Cyber-boss.
I never really liked him anyway-yeah-it was him who banned our mate Flanker wasn’t it? Hiss-Boo.
Glad he is not coming. Really looking forward to a great weekend now.
Anybody know his room number? We could always put our drinks on his bill. What do you think?
