Iceland to Faroe Islands

Number of ribbers from Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) will take off from the village Höfn which is located on Iceland´s southeast coast heading for Torshavn in Fareo Islands, this is around 280 nm journey.

Reason for this trip came up after the round Iceland cruise last year (see thread http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24939 ).

One of the groups leader Hilmar Kristjansson (Lundi on here) proposed this challange after the credit crunch and that the local government of Faroe Islands (ruled by Denmark) was the first to offer loan to the Icelanders so the trip will be done to show our thanks and appreciation for their friendship and kindness by standing by our side and support us.

On May 2nd there will be meeting in Westmann Islands to prepare the trip.

For your information number of the key people in this event will join me to visit the upcoming RIBex show.

We will post further process on this thread.

3 out of 7 RIBs went on exercise trip the other night (Tuesday) from Westmann Islands to Thorlakshofn and logged in 108 miles, the boats involved where Valiant 490 DR, Humber 580 Destroyer and Zodiac Pro 15.

The trip went very well and all crew members enjoyed the ride.

The clothing threw me a little. I thought Icelandic 'Chix' looked like this..............or Bjork at a push.
