Rumour has it that the date has been set for the 29th March.

Aparently she will be towed out early in the morning, and then they will spend approx 6 hours setting the charges, so that will give people time to get there.

Obviously this is all weather dependent.

Were my ears deceiving me or did I hear on the local TV news this morning that the sinking is TODAY?

I 'think' that they are announcing the date today.

But I would not swear to that in a court of law.

Aah, it's the ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DATE of the sinking that will be today, not the sinking itself then!
Phew. Thought I had missed it for a few seconds there!

Thanks Alex.

Andy,
See
www.biboa.com
the Cruising thread
S/W Cruise

This recommends Mayflower Marina where you can launch for free on the public slip and then park car and trailer inside and moor up overnight at the Marina. There are lots of hotels and B&Bs in Plymouth. We normally stay at the Invicta which is also detailed on the above thread.
Mountbatten marina is also good but is slightly more dificult to get to the first time you go.

I will be there along with Jools? and Mark? and ribnwheels?

I think the Mt Batten might not be opperating the Bunk house at the moment, they closed for refurbishment and I think there is a financail issue currently. Only the clubs & outdoor edd who use the site there currently.
Things might well have changed.

That shouldn't effect launching or parking though, should it?
I thought the accomodation was a separate enterprise anyway?

If anyone is staying over, I would recommend staying on the town side rather than at MBatten.
You would be much nearer the skin clubs and the beer cellars!

Don't thinks so, the slip between the hangers and the Mt Batten centre I think is a public slip.
And there is always the public slip by the Mayflower.

Hi all
For anyone who is intrested, i found out today that Plymouth Yacht Haven, Mt Batten, charge £5.00 to use there slip for self launch there is a reasonalbe size car park, there is also a free one next door, but very limited parking.

A word of warning about the free slip by Mayflower Marina, make sure you lock every thing up well, as there have been trailers etc vanishing in the past.
