Mark,

My apologies. I was wrong to cast aspersions about your ability to return from the corner shop with the correct merchandise at the appointed hour. Like to see YOUR boat one day and use it as a fender (Duck !). Seriously, be happy to buy you beer at the Bugle or the Kings Head or anywhere.

Julian,

Lucky boy. Super looking boat. Wondered why it was tied up so long ? Bit choppy for you out there, was it ? (Duck !)

Is the Bugle better than the Kings Head ? Last summer, I left my wallet in the car at Warsash and discovered my predicament as I was collared by the Berthing Master. Went cap in hand to Tony at the KH and he stood us lunch to the tune of £ 35. I just sent him a cheque the following week. I was pretty impressed with that at the time. But then I do have an honest face.

Look forward to seeing you guys around another time.

All the Best

Brian

Brian

No worries and as it happens I'm famous in my household for indicating what time I'll be back.

I reckon the boat you were moored up against was a fancy new Scorpion that had a very wide console and Volvo Penta i/b. Haven't seen that console before but it looked very flash.

I was going to invite myself onboard on my way back from the pub but the owner had walked off somewhere.

As for the beer I can't wait.

Regards

Mark

Hi Chaps,
I am new to ribbing but after doing loads of research decided to let my heart rule the bank manager and took the plunge. Have now been out a couple of times and am totally hooked!

I was also over in Yarmouth on the weekend (Sunday - tons of ribs out) and came back to the boat to see this rather menacing black rib parked up. Anyone have any ideas what it is? Looks military to me but I have not seen anything like it before.

I hope the picci comes out but I am new to all this so maybe not.

Congrats on a top forum, it gave me loads of info when I was looking to buy.

Look forward to meeting some of you at forthcoming events.

Graeme

Thanks TW (are they initials?)

Mine actually does about the same speed, I saw about 55 knots on the way over to Yarmouth when we hit a bit of calm water - also noticed the fuel use went up to 84 liters per hr!!! That kinda freaked me out but it uses about 40 ltrs/hr @ 35knots which is still alot but less scary than 84!

I was actually wondering about the top speed as I have noticed the propeller has quite a few rough edges where the previous owner has obviously hit things. I wouldn't say it is bad but as it must spin so fast any dents on the edges must surely make a big difference + cause vibration etc

One guy told me to file the edge of the prop to smooth it out but I thought I would ask some advice before I just start filing away at my £200 propeller! Is this the right thing to do?

Any help would be appreciated and not sure if this has already been covered elswhere.

Ta

Graeme

Props are funnier than a woman with PMT

I would recomend that you send your prop of to some one like steel developments to be repaired.... Leave it to the experts on a boat like yours....

If your think about it, you have 225hp pushing about a ton of Rib at 65MPH.....!!!!!????? all through 3 pieces of metal the size of your hand.....

So I think that if you prop is anyway 'off sorts' it will effect your speed and LPM

I dont think a slighlty dinged prop would effect a slow boat..

Na. If it's wriggly, take it off and tap the edge nice and even on an anvil or the back of a vice. Make sure your hammer face is not a mess or you'll imprint the mess onto the blade at every blow. Look ALONG the edge and you'll be surprised how accurate you can make it. Take a smooth file and clean it up and then some fine emery or wet-or-dry. Work down through the grades, (file then about 320 grit followed by 600). A smooth matt finish is preferable to a polished finish. If it's aluminium, use a drop of oil on the file and wet-or-dry to prevent picking-up.
If you have a bit of skill, be brave, it'll be OK.

JW.

Thank You sir. Nope Tw18 one of those silly net names (hey i'm only young ) real name Lee

I wouldnt even like to think about that consumption!!!

I can only repeat what has been said about a specialist such as stell developments. Let them advise, but if it is that bad, could be £200 well spent

All the best,
Lee

Thanks for the info JW, however as I don't have any skill whatsoever in this area I think I will go the expert route!

Lee, I contacted Steel developments and they charge £55 for a refurb and that is a lot cheaper than the £2 - 300 for a new prop so I will give them a go. Here's to another 5 mph!
