Flare demonstration evening

I have approached the RNLI to run a flare demonstration evening at Calshot activities centre on either friday 12 or saturday 13 november about 5.30-6pm,as the RNLI prefer to do the demonstration in near daylight.
They will demonstrate the correct use of handheld and parachute flares and there will be some opportunity to have a go,I believe it is permissable to bring your own flares providing they are not damaged or out of date.
The evening is free but it costs the RNLI £80.00 so a collection may be in order.
There is a bar at the centre and I plan to look into using the bar to award prizes in association with Richard,Louise and Sue for the recently held cruise on the 19th september (which was in no way a treasure hunt) after the flare demonstration.
The RNLI have requested that there is a group of no more then 30 for the demonstation so this post is really a feeler to gauge interest.

Saturday 13th is Viviennes birthday.
Birthday outing sorted then.

I am interested, but it may take a bit of negotiation.

I spoke to the RNLI chap today and he would need at least 15-20 people to make this a goer so in case anyone was going to wait to the last minute to declare interest in attending,I really need to know in the next week.

Well, the bad news is, she is not going to fall for this. It's a candle lit dinner or nothing. We also have a problem with a babysitter for 2 nights running.
Sorry Paul, hope you get enough takers, it is a worthwhile thing to do. Catch you another time.

Count Dylan and I in...

...although we're doing a refresher first aid course on the Saturday so I will need to check if we can get back in time. Could do Friday definitely though.

Cancellation

Unfortunately,It doesnt look like there are enough people who can make it to make this a goer,I count around 12 assuming 2 per party and as already stated, the RNLI chap stated a minimum of 15-20.
Sorry to those who were able to come and thank-you to those who showed an interest.

That's a shame, Paul.

Our weekends are a bit bananas at the moment but we would be interested if you were running it again (and we have a free space),

I think the thing to do is when we have a little get together next summer for an organised event we should try to organize with the RNLI a demonstration then. I'm sure if the words "have a beer on us" were mentioned it would help on the RNLI's flexibility to fall into our plans rather than the tuther way round. Could make it into another Charity "treasure hunt" for the RNLI! That way everyone benefits.
