Would love to meet up Alex, I've got a busy weekend ahead but if all goes well Friday/Saturday may be able to come out to play Sunday!

Ideal! I'd actually be launching from Par docks, although as I said I can only say 'maybe' at this stage.

Hi Ginger

Got the new trailer last Saturday from Bristol, then spent 7 hours trying to get it to fit me RiB

Should have got Tyrone to make me one then I wouldnt have done me back in and broke the Bath room scales!

Think I might have it sorted now after another 4 hours yesterday, just need to check the nose weight if thats out then its back to the drawing board as Ill need to shit the twin axles (please god noooo), once the trailers sorted I get the outboard serviced, its booked in a week on Thursday.

The summer will be over at this rate before Im in the water

Cheers Shaggy

I might be out to play on sunday but youl have to play gentle - my boat is half the length of yours and i carry 2 young children with me (6 and 7 years) theres a limit as to what i can put them through...

i have just purchased it (she's my first boat)

only trip out so far was 2 weekends ago - launched from mylor then spent the whole day exloring from truro to helford - loved it

Thank god they sell fuel at mylor - otherwise i would have had to go home early...

i was thinking of doing a run to fowey and back this weekend depending on sea state.

i have my SRC course on 17th so i can fit my vhf (for safety) as my ultimate goal is to do the scilly isles run although some people have said im mad doing that in a 4.2m boat - im fairly adventurous but i dont think im mad...

do you have any idea how much fuel a 55hp 2-stroke will burn on a 30nmile trip? thats why im thinking of going from mylor to fowey (i think its about the same distance as the scillies from sennen) so its kind of a trial run (i carry 70 litres)

what is the slip like down at sennen?

Roy,

Not sure on either the fuel question or the slip at Sennen Cove.

But look forward to seeing you on Sunday, and don't get to worried about the children, mine are 8 and 10 now and have been coming out with me for 2 years. If you let me know what time you plan to launch I can meet you at Mylor

Hey Kernow,

We recently bought our first rib (maiden voyage last weekend) and have been told that, to launch at Par Docks, we need to join St Austell Bay Boat Club - how do we go about joining? It would be a really handy place for us to launch from - living in St Austell.

Hello Bob & Sue
Firstly welcome to the forum, well done on buying a Rib
Your right about the boat club, its a good facility, very secure and a good slip if a little green at times. That's the good news, the bad news is the club organization is very poor, its probably better to think of it solely as a launch site than a club from which to learn. There is a websitehttp://www.sabbc.org.uk/ Which is still promising tide tables for 2005!To join you need to download a membership form and bring it to a club meeting, the next one is June 14th 7.30 St.Austell rugby club, that meeting is the last one for the summer so try not to miss it! Anything else I can help with send me a pm.
Kernow

Hows this for a plan,

I get to Mylor for 1000 to meet anyone launching there. Then make it round to the Dodman for approx 1100, and then Kernow can show us around St Austell Bay and Fowey.
