Meet

Hi Peter

Our boat is kept in Lymington and were meeting with everyone from 11am onwards in Yarmouth, Having lunch and a few pints in the Weatsheaf pub and will probably leave there at about 1pm etc. If you fancy poping over for lunch and a few beers feel free, be good to meet some fellow Rib Net members .

Thanks for the reply I will do my best to meet you in Yarmouth.

Assume the Wheatsheaf is close to the water and there is somewhere to tie up for a while. I do not know Yarmouth but I am sure I will manage to find you.

See you Saturday.

Peter

Weymouth Plans

Morning All

The weekend is nearly upon us so i thought i would just jot down some info for you. 1st I have ordered good weather and so far it seems that we are going to be ok. Max Force 3-4 and no rain promised over us.

Plan For Saturday

Meet in Yarmouth around 11-12 am. I will be there from 11am anyway. Then into the Weathsheaf for lunch and a few beers etc. The plan is to leave Yarmouth at about 1.30 - 2pm. Any one who needs fuel can fill up in Yarmouth before we go.

Roughly 40Nm to weymouth so we should arrive about 4pm depending on sea conditions etc. Drop our bags off at the Crown Hotel which is next to the Bridge and make our way to the Irish Bar opposite the hotel on the harbour front. Have a few beers then change for the evening meal at the Yacht Club again on the harbour front about 5 mins walk from hotel.

Sunday 5th Oct

Wake up feeling rough, we normally have to leave the hotel by 11am. By this time they have had enough of us etc. Head straight back to Yarmouth for 1pm for Sunday lunch in the Royal Dorset Yacht Club and thats the end of the weekend.

Hopefully weather will be good, either way we will have a good time.

VHF CH 77 to be used for the cruise
Our boat is called Liquidator if you need to contact us etc.

See you all on Saturday morning

Julian

The Gathering in Yarmouth

This is what it is all about , The Ribs , and what a collection of fine speciments

Great weekend and a great crowd of people sharing the same pleasure of ribbing .

I won't mention the weather in too many details but it was bad!!!
specially for us on Seahawk as we had travelled that day from Littlehampton in total 95 Nm and we had to get back there which we did but had to give the lunch in Yarmouth a miss

Hi,

Glad you all made it back in one piece. It was good fun. How are all the bumps and bruises on your passengers?. Will you ever get the girls back on your rib again ???

Weymouth 2003

Morning All

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who made the effort at the weekend to join us in this run. Hope you all had a good time. The weather could have been better on the leg to weymouth but yesterday we had a great run back to Yarmouth.

As some of you have heard we had a incident on Saturday with 3 people being thrown out of the boat in heavy seas of Anvil Point. The crew had just swaped over drivers and forgot to attach the kill cord to three body, the boat hit a wave to fast and took a heavy landing on 1 side, this caused all of the crew to be thrown into the water with out dry suits , luckly no one was hurt just shocked etc, Richard Bateson luckly saw them in the water and managed to stop their boat and pick up the wet but safe crew, Lesson to be learnt ALLWAYS wear the kill cord, This could have turned into a very serious accident.

Apart from that the weekend was a great sucess and we had 58 people in all and some 14 Rinbs attend. Met a few of the Guys from Ribnet which was good to finaly put a face to a name.

Thanks Again

Julian

Actually it was Jackeen-missus who saw them, and then Jackeen-Mr did a very well planned and controlled transfer into the boat which was still moving at about 8-10kts. Great team effort in getting all sorted out.

Not only does this show the importance of kill-cords, but that of being buddied with another RIB. Up to that point, we had been travelling alone (We were one of the last RIBs to leave, headed across Poole Bay and gained shelter from Old Harry and Swanage Bay to allow us to overtake loads of ya!). We'd only been in the company of the other boat for 10 mins when the incident happened.

Glad to hear that you all had a great time.

What a fine collection of Ribs I am only sorry we couldn't make the run to weymouth.

Still we had a nice run over from Southampton and met a few new members.

Hope to see some of you next year.

Jackeen

Yes we got back in one piece, having dropped the girls off at Portsmouth Kevin and I carried on to Littlehampton expecting bad weather on route (as advised by the Yarmouth marina office) anyway to our suprise that was the most pleasant run that weekend. Just shows some can't get the weather forecast right .

I think the girls will be back on board but not straight away.

How about you what time did you leave and what conditions did you have?

Greetings to Mrs Jackeen

Andre

Thanks Julian & all who organised the cruise...thanks Richard and Louise for hosting us on Blue Ice again...always a pleasure!

Best thing is everyone home safe

Nice to meet so many of you & put faces to 'Rib-Net' names...
Very impressed by the professional cruise by the lads in the 4.7 Rib...great job!

We chilled in Yarmouth for a bit Andre before heading for Warsash...wind & tide had settled nicely and we could pootle along at a Paradiddle pace (60 knots or so Jackeen is telling me to say)

By the way ( rescued ) rubber ducky got safely all the way to Weymouth & back. Thing is he likes bigger ribs now he's been on Blue Ice...
Give us a wave out there!!!

Missus (Jackeen)

Aches & Pains

Hi everyone,

Well after a very long soak in a hot bath and a good nights sleep. I woke up stiff as a board, What a brilliant weekend thanks Jullian.

Yes, the girls will be back on board, a very big well done to both ladies, especially my wife Joyce as it was her first cruise of any great distance.

The furthest Joyce had been previously, was a trip round Pompey harbour in the middle of summer.

Hopefully everyone who took picture of the w/end will start posting them soon. We both look forward to seeing them.

Cheers
