Yip - gutted that Polwart & I couldn't make the trip, especially after we both put in so much prep & paperwork (for Renfrew Ferry launch) but not wasted - our time will come!!!
As it turned out got caught up at Balloch slipway helping poor chap whose Shetland flew off his trailer down the slipway, narrowly missing someone and taking a lump out of his keel (and luckily not cracking his hull). Scariest bit was when I was holding his battery/engine leads apart to avoid a short as he disconnected the battery to remove the outboard to ease lifting the boat when a park ranger noticed fuel pouring out of the fuel tank's breather. . .
And all down to a dodgy winch cog and no back-up chain/line.
Managed to get half anhour on the glass-like, sunny Loch with the elder Thumpling so some RIBing after all.
