Hey Charles, great pics. Many thanks once again for organising. Thankfully the weather was superb on the return journey. My crew are all up for another trip after the sore backside becomes a little less painful!!

(BTW - the campsite found the drysuit and fleece and are posting it back to me so no need to help but thanks anyway)

Regards,
Dave

Great to see the pictures...

Didn't turn out quite as planned for us. After working 'till 8pm on Thursday evening to sort out electrical problems on the boat, we had a late start and then ended up making the decision to return from 18miles out with the boat we were buddied with. Not an easy decision, and not an easy passage back into a very steep head sea.

Still, we salvaged the weekend and had a great cruise along the South Coast, in fact we enjoyed it so much that we didn't come home until Monday evening.

Pics etc to follow!

Looks like it was a fun weekend. Instead of being there as I had been planning on several months back, I spent this sunday exploring a Saracen armoured car and a gin palace on the bottom of a flooded Quarry in Lancashire (best place for it, bloody tubeless boats!). The water was a toasty warm 17 degrees, and visibility was less than a metre!

I had no idea you were on that Targa (was it?)...we had one for a couple of years and quickly went back to ribs. Anyway good to see you - on the pontoon - and not in the water.

Targa

Hi Charles,

Yes it was a Fairline Targa 34. You made the right choice to go back to Ribs.

We left on Friday am from Portsmouth intending to meet the others at Lymington .

Weather at time wet & windy F5. Got to Lymington ok. My Skipper decided not to go into marina but stay out and investigate sea conditons further out.

We headed out to sea and weather was deteriating and sea were picking up. Sent weather report to Martin S & Dave C and they were leaving approx 13:00hrs.

We continued on south got approx 20nm out from I.o.Wight when decision was made to turn back. Gin Palaces do not like F6+ and big seas.

After a total of 9 hrs at sea we got back to Portsmouth. Slept on it then tried again on Saturday. You know the rest.

I certainly learnt a lot that day and overall had a good w/end. I will definately do it again next year Eh Mike

Cheers for now

Does anyone who went on this cruise fell like writing an article for the BIBOA newsletter - I will supply pics if required?

The other Herm Cruise

The other Herm Cruise…

(Richard B and Louise, Jackeen & missus and Jasper and Marie)
We had planned to go to Herm with the rest of the cruise but ended up cruising the Dorset coast instead. (Hopefully we’ll get there next time Charles.) Here's our account of the trip!!!

Gave up on the battle 18 miles off the Needles; turned and headed for Poole…sunny skies!!!
