Guys
Apologises for delaying the off last Saturday. Technical problems....aka electronics
GPS had been playing up for a while, so thought better safe than sorry, sent to Garmin to test, confirm all ok, so I guested the problem must have been the data cable (looked a bit corroded). Switched it out Friday night into the small hours and rewired the whole thing, new cable, fuses etc. All looked good.
Sleepy eyes, meant we were late to Chris’s and missed you by about 30mins. Put boat straight in water and set off over the bar to catch you up, but no GPS!!
Back to Chris’s, boat out of the water, bit of playing around with Chris, who did the old fashioned “tap / shake it test” a few times and it’s was clear that the unit was the problem. On/off switch not required – just tap the 550 and it turns off!
Needless to say not happy with Garmins bench test! Or the £30 for the new cable!
Anyway, gutted as we missed a great trip.

Just a thought, after the success of this trip, how about the next one to the Isle of Man.
Leave on a Friday to the IoM. Cruise around the IoM on the Saturday and back to base on the Sunday.

Its already being talked about  we just need to decide departure points etc, it might be easier for the likes of Pikey Dave,Mick and those from Manchester to launch from Fleetwood for the I.O.M
Plus it depends on when are you thinking 4 of us are up in Scotland the last week of August,
It looks like the next Dun Laoghaire trip is penciled in for July 2013

Not to worry David,we did hang about for a while sorry you missed us, we waited till 10.30 then we had to go seeing as most of the Ribs had been launched by 9.15. Look forward to seeing you on the next one

July 2013 in he diary.
Regarding IoM, I can launch from where-ever, equally didn't really think about when, other than next year. But September / early October works too.

Fleetwood to Douglas = 53nm
Beaumaris to Douglas = 55nm
This gives options depending on boat location, distance by road to launch, car/trailer security etc
Also IoM is 75 miles round about
