guys - would I just get battered to S**t in my 380 SIB if I was to tag along on one of your expeditions from Bristol Marina?

Cheers

Neighbour?

Think you must be parked next to us at the farm?

Refuse to pay the extortionate Portishead Marina launch fee, usually travel down to Portland. (More in fuel I know but launch any time and stay the weekend). May keep the RIB in the Marina for a couple of weeks in the summer to avoid traffic but would launch from Bristol Marina and cruise down the Avon.

Have launched at Weston slip but need a highish tide.

That would be my rib on the farm, recently moved under the tree now catching bird s##t! Planning on doing the same in the summer - a ski afterwork sounds just the ticket.

Just scrubbed the green slime off ours before a blast at the weekend. Managed a few evening ski's/wakeboard out of Portishead under the bridge and further down the coast when calm enough -

Hoping for a trip across to Cardiff & Flat Holm sometime too.

Hi guys,

Sorry to drag this thread up from the deep dark depths of March....

The missus and I have just dipped our toes into this whole SIB thing with a Zodiac 3.1 aero and 4hp Mariner, which I realise is the real low end of the sort of stuff that normally gets talked about around here, but you have to start somewhere.

However, we live in Bristol and if there is a little community of SIBers in the area we can get together with so that we're not scared every time we take the thing out of the car - so much the better.

Just for the record, though - we've not actually taken our SIB anywhere yet - it's in the Bristol Boats yard in Saltford waiting for their engineer to pre-check it, and us to get there at the end of the week to pick it up.

But I've been reading this forum for a while and feel like you are mostly nice helpful peeps.... :-)

So, if there's a Bristol SIB/RIB mini-club going on, can I join please (even though I've not even taken my boat down the Avon yet ???)

Here's one - although I'd only do it in a group with more experienced peeps at this point.... plus we've only got a tiddly 3m SIB with 4hp outboard.

Whilst not based in Bristol, I am from Bristol and quite like the idea of dragging the boat up and having a trip in the local area. So if you do get a trip together, could you start a post to let us all know.

I know this thread is really old but I have exactly the same questions - I live in North Somerset and am looking for someone interested in Bristol Channel cruising. We have a 5m Rib with 90hp engine, so not the biggest, but would like to experiment with a trip off the coast here, with some reassurance of help/advice if needed. Any thoughts?

Bristol Channel Cruising

Hi,
I live in Portishead and have just purchased an Apex 5.3 with a Mercury 75 4 stroke.
I've been out in the channel a few times on a friends RIBS and a RIB i had a while ago.
Although i'm not overly experienced out in the channel, i've been boating for some years.

With the strength of the current around here i feel it's always best to go out with a boat 'Buddy' just incase anything happens and you need a tow in.

If your interested in getting together one weekend and having a cruise up or down the channel, reply and we'll see what we can sort out.

Andy
