This started today & its 30knt winds out and pretty rough . So I sat on the cliff & watched for abit till the attached turned up & flewpast. Not great pics but all I had with me was a little olympus ( and the sand blasting my face didn't help !) , but was using call sign 'Warlock' - nice to see it .

I reckon I'll be there / in the area Saturday and Sunday. We were planning on exploring Poole & Swanage anyhow from Christ Church, caught sight of this event today. Bit of a bonus I reckon.
Is CH.77 the go?
What boat names are attending?
Mine is called "Hullaballou", Blue 7.5M Vector Mirage.

Hi Seb - 'If' the wind drops ( its gusting to F9 now ! ) I may well be out Sat & Sun also from Christchurch . If my boat is on the mooring ( just opposite slipway) I've judged it too windy to be pleasant !

Sat possibly parking away from the masses ( if it gets that busy) , Sunday just East of Boscombe pier. If you are going out/in from Christchurch be aware of the low ride times at 6.10 & 6.50 . I usually use an hour & half before low water as my last chance to get back in at Mudeford without needing new shorts !

Boat name 'Nestor' - Ch16 for calling will be a joke if its busy , but good for 'how not to do it' & to hear some blokes planning BBQs & fishing ! So try 77.

Pete

Thanks all for the info...conditions really don't look favourable to risk bringing the rib up and be stuck with a car, trailer and boat all day.So looks like i'll have to be with the masses on the seafront..Rich

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the local intel on Mudeford tides. I'm planning on staying in a friends house in the Rushford Warren area.
Can you suggest a suitable Launch Ramp?
I was also planning on leaving her in the water Sat night, any suggestions?

Sorry never been to Christ Church before, usually start from the other end of the Solent. Got bored down there, so exploring new area this weekend.

Cheers
Seb

If you are staying there then either the slip at mudeford quay (Long: -1.741981
Lat: 50.724706 , but the council charge for it ! ) , or up river the one at mayors mead car park ( -1.77964568138123 Lat: 50.7299361339381 my local & v close my mooring).

Its easy to stick an anchor down and let the boat dry out over the tides onto sand/ mud. But you may need to get hold of a tender to get to the beach , you coudl stop pretty close to where you are staying , but it gets shallow - down to about 2-3 feet at high water !

Alternatively you can always stop next to my boat on Sat night - bit further away from where you are staying tho. PM me if you want to do that & I'll re jig the bouys to make it easy - but again you'll need a tender.

Suppose another option is tie up outside the captains club - have a drink or tow & leave it there overnight - they are pretty relaxed about things like that.

Pete

Managed to get along on the Sunday, weather and sea state were both good. Airshow very good, but a shame about the low cloud rolling in right at the end, which terminated the display by the Arrows. However, by then they had been upstaged by the Vulcan and Typhoon.

Attendence was up by some 50% this year, 1.4 million visitors over the 4 days, so glad I went by RIB!

A few pics, sorry if you dont like aircraft, but some RIBS later
