BIBOA Easter Solent Cruise

The BIBOA Easter Solent Cruise will take place over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend 9/10/11/12 April.

Here's an outline of the weekend's events:

Friday - launching & lunch then short local cruise Southampton water, Rivers Hamble & Itchen. Evening event TBA.

Saturday - EITHER Poker Run (with entry fee) OR a more leisurely cruise in the Solent. Evening party (for a fee).

Sunday - Cruise to Portsmouth or Poole depending on weather. Evening event TBA.

Monday - Cruise to Cowes for lunch. Recovery of boats.

There's no organised accommodation for this cruise so you will need to book your own. Crane launching & storage of car & trailer is available at Drivers Wharf (special BIBOA rate - show membership card) or use your usual slipway facilities.

The cruising is suitable for all size RIBs, but the Poker Run is usually aimed at larger boats with higher cruising speeds (35+ knots). If you have a smaller RIB don't worry that you'll be on your own on Saturday as there are already a couple of boats booked in for the cruise only, or you could crew on a bigger boat perhaps.

If you're interested, you need to get in touch with Gordon Compton (details in RIBlines), or if you're not a BIBOA member then visit the website here: www.biboa.com and join up! (You have to be a member to participate in BIBOA cruises.)

Hope to see you there!

Rib Panther will be there!!!!

I dropped her off for her service this weekend...

So anybody any ideas on accomadation - from last years Easter cruise the hotel was just used for sleeping in! - all meals (except breakfast) were in various waterside spots - All very well organised.

I was thinking about the

Travel Inn Southampton City Center
http://www.travelinn.co.uk/TI/index.jsp?page=inn&id=284
Limited parking - so not suitable for many trailers!
Last time I stayed here some people had rooms next to the railway!
1 mile from Drivers Wharf
£54.95 per room per night

or
http://www.travelinn.co.uk/TI/index.jsp?page=inn&id=191
Should have rib friendly parking
No rail noise!
5 miles from Drivers Wharf

£45.95 per room per night

I will probably stay at number 2 - Save £30 - Thats £30 more to spend on fuel!!!!!

Anyone else got any ideas?

Jools

Am going to give this one a go. Looking forward to meeting some fellow ribsters.
Having trouble getting hold of Gordon on his mobile - just goes dead with no ring tone.
Anyone got an email address for him??

Cheers

Gordon doesn't do email... that's why I did the web stuff for him.

The mobile number in RIBlines is correct to the best of my knowledge, but he also doesn't do voicemail so I don't know what happens if he's out of signal range.

Thanks for the info.
I will keep trying!

For info I understand there has been a large fire at one of the exchanges which has taken out a lot of mobiles on an intermittant basis. Mine has been out of action - bliss.
