BIBOA Dartmouth Cruise - Friday 22 to Monday 25 June 2007

Morning Folks,

Its that time of year again when we invade Dartmouth for a few days. This event is ideal for everyone from new comers to experienced cruisers.

Dartmouth is a lovely place and is surrounded by great cruising ground. The rough plan is as follows.

Friday 22nd June - Depart from Yarmouth around 10am for the run to Dartmouth, Possibly stopping at Weymouth.

Saturday 23rd June - Relaxing day with a run to Salcombe

Sunday 24th June - Cruise to Torquay, Exmouth and possibly explore Lyme Bay

Monday 25th June - Depart Dartmouth around 10am for the return run to Yarmouth.

This really is a great cruise and I hope many of you can join us. Dartmouth around this time of year is very busy so booking accommodation early is advised.

Kind Regards

Julian Lyas

And if you're going to Ribex you can join BIBOA while you're there. BIBOA's stand is right next to the Fastnet Brasserie so the ideal place to meet up, hang out and chat to fellow ribsters. We look forward to seeing old and new members there!

Hi Julian

Is there dockside petrol available in Dartmouth? On Google earth there is a picture of a large fuel barge, I assume that is for the public?

Ollie

PS Flights and hotel now booked, fingers crossed for the weather.....

Hi Rosie,

I was hopeing you got my email about the trip. I shall pencil you in. Accomodation is getting a bit busy so if you can book something now that would be best.

I found this site useful

http://www.discoverdartmouth.com/accommodation.php

The phone number is tel: 01803 834224

Oli, There is petrol in Dartmouth on both sides of the river, or at least there was last year. We can always pop into Torquay and get some if needed anyway.

All the best

Julian

Dartmouth 2007

Hi All,

Just to let you know.

I have booked the following :

Friday 22nd June - Spice Bazaar restaurant for 7pm (cant do any later)
Saturday 23rd June - Floating Bridge pub for 8pm

I have spoken to the marina and they cant take advance bookings again, we just have to wait and see on the day, the guy says it should be fine as they have a lot of boat away in June. Not overly helpful but we had the same thing last year and all of us managed to get in.

Cheers

Julian

Curry

Julian
Don't worry about the early shout for the curry, plenty of time for a cooling beer after the vindaloo

Jon,

We think the same way, all we need is good weather and were set for a great weekend. Boats leaving from Isle Of Wight so fare are :

Scorpion - 8.5mtr Scorpion - 300hp Yanmar
Ocean Devil - 8.1mtr Scorpion - 250 Yanmar
Tweedy Pie - 8.75mtr Scorpion - 300 Yanmar
Myles Aweigh - 8.75mtr Scorpion - 280 Volvo
Happy Hours - 8.5mtr Scorpion - 275 Mercury Verado

Its like a Scorpion boat club by the looks of things. Please remember we will be using VHF CH 77 for this event. Please take down names of other boats for safety incase you need to radio on route etc.

Cheers

Julian

Well the event is not far away now. The weather is looking a bit better on Friday than most of this week with a chance of light showers and light winds.

Hopefully this will turn out to be bright sunshine instead, I have my fingers crossed.

Bit of a update on boats for the event :

Scorpion - 8.5mtr Scorpion - 300hp Yanmar - 3 Crew
Ocean Devil - 8.1mtr Scorpion - 250 Yanmar - 4 Crew
Tweedy Pie - 8.75mtr Scorpion - 300 Yanmar - 2 Crew
Myles Aweigh - 8.75mtr Scorpion - 280 Volvo - 2 Crew
Happy Hours - 8.5mtr Scorpion - 275 Mercury Verado - 1 Crew
Hot Lemon - 10mtr Scorpion - 2 x 315 Yanmars - 2 Crew
Awsume - 11mtr Redbay - 2 x 300 Yanmars - 3 Crew

In total we have around 17 people for the event so far. I hope you have all managed to secure accomodation in Dartmouth now. The marina are going to let us know about berths on Friday morning as we cant book in advance etc.

Again VHF CH 77 will be used for this cruise and please note the names of the boats for safety.

We will meet just of Yarmouth Pier at 10.30am on Friday and aim to be under way very shortly afterwards. It would be good to be in Dartmouth around 1pm for lunch after liquid refreshments etc.

See you friday.

Julian
