BIBOA annual Weymouth bash - weekend 13/14 October 2007

Morning Folks,

Well its again that time of year where the plans are finalized for the Biboa Weymouth invasion. The date is set as the 13th October and the plans are as follows.

Saturday 13th October - Meet in Yarmouth around 11am - 12am in the Wheatsheaf for lunch and a few drinks. Depart 2pm ish for the run to Weymouth. Accomodation will be in the Crown Hotel as they are about the only place that will alow us back in. Saturday night the meal will be at the Royal Yacht Club again starting at 7.30pm.

Sunday - 14th October - Depart Weymouth at 10am and return to Yarmouth for a Sunday lunch at the Yacht Club.

This is a great event and is allways good fun, Ideal for any new comers to meet with other memebers of the club as well. Boats of all sizes are more than welcome.

I hope to see as many of you as possible for the weekend event. If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible so I can reserve you rooms and meals etc.

Come join the fun.

All the best

Julian Lyas

Come on whats stopping you all its a great weekend great company good food
and you don't have to join biboa for this one i have been to the last 5 and its well worth the effort, and it would dispel all that crap about Biboa

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. Could you let me know if you need twin rooms, Singles or Doubles etc.

Come on people of Ribnet this is a great event and it would be good to meet and end these rumours about BIBOA and just enjoy the boating and the company.

Cheers

Have to say, for us its a case of sticking our head around the corner to sample the BIBOA way of life, would be good to have some other Ribnet folks to join in.

Why the lack of interest in this cruise
Would be good to know for all sorts of reasons.
1. Distance (to far)
2. Work
3. Cost
4. Is it a rival thing (Man Utd V Chelsea) type of thing
If you think that you would get left behind then i would be prepared to be the last boat
Any other reasons ?
Post what you think, we are all big boys no one takes it personally.

No not a problem

2. Work
Yes I work Saturdays!

3. Cost
No not a problem

4. Is it a rival thing (Man Utd V Chelsea) type of thing
well I do have a hard boat!

For me I have a family to include wife & 3 girls (5,6&9) & this dose not look like a family outing!
We did the treasure hunt organized a few years ago, which was a great fun for all the family!
I know not everyone has a family to include, but it is my 2 p.w.

Nick

Weymouth 2007

It would be good to know if there is issues etc so we can work through them.

At the end of the day were all here to enjoy RIBS and cruising together so any ideas, comments would be very welcome.

Lets sort out any problems and move on so we can do the most important thing and get out on the water and have some fun.

Julian

I was planning to come on this cruise but work commitments cant be changed
I was planning on doing the trip last year, even though i applied a little late,
but had little response to my mails apart from a link to join biboa.
and imho the thing that makes a good criuse is the diversity of boats, however big or small, and good company, and the fact of every body looking out for each other,
hopefully if this cruise is on next year, then we will be along to play.

Thanks for your response, sorry if you didnt get a reply to your email last year, not sure what happened there.

The event will be on again next year and would be good to have you along for the ride. Its about cruising in good company to great places and having a laugh along the way.

All the best

Julian

No one is asking for you to join for this one as i said come along its only the accommodation and dinner you pay for, as for arranging cruises apart from a run in the solent i have not seen many what you would call a cruise posted, apart from what Julian as arranged, and he dose not get paid for his time

That's not true in my opinion, but maybe they are not all arranged with much notice - seems to have been the best way so far this year, and maybe it depends on how you define a cruise (if "cruise" is defined as having an overnight stay, then no, not so many).

I have been out in company on the following:-
March Medina Muster
July BBQ and camping trip
From southampton to Dancing ledge, then on to Poole for lunch and return
From Southampton to Alderney and back same day
Various jaunts around the solent in company
Wanted to go on the alderney weekend but could not make it in the end,
could not make it round the island this year either

none of those mentioned above were arranged by Julian, but all were posted on Ribnet in upcoming cruises

I'll get off my high horse now

Post what you think, we are all big boys no one takes it personally.
But to add another answer to why no-one is coming:-
1) not too far
2) work - not really but working abroad does not make it easy
3) Cost - at the moment, yes to some extent, but I would find the money if I really wanted to
4) No I don't think so, not for me anyway
Other - maybe the expectation that you need to join BIBOA (not so reading later postings, but not clear in original posting)
- i'm only in UK til Saturday afternoon, otherwise might well have come
- finding crew with suitable clothing late in season (not a problem if good weather, but I can't afford to buy drysuits for various people that could end up coming, and they won't buy their own for one or two trips a year)

Update,

Well things are looking good, we have 31 confirmed for the event now, not as many as last year yet but I am sure there will be a few last minute people joining us.

If anyone does have any questions about BIBOA being it membership details , costs etc please just ask and I will be happy to talk to you.

All the best

Julian
