Anglesay August 9th -12th

Hi
I am new to Ribs but reasonable experienced with bigger boats, I am around Anglesey 9th to 12th August and it would be great to gain some ribbing experience from more advanced people. If the weather is OK a circumnavigation of the island would be great, any one interested

Where from?

Hi, if the forecast was v nice I may come, did it just last week, would be fun as you say with others.

Where are you thinking of starting from? I see the tides are right for it those few days!!

We started by the gazelle hotel opposite Bangor pier. There is good launching down the road at menai bridge/ porth Daniel and moorings by the pub/hotel with parking for trailers. Nice place to stay. If you pm tonyt and neilmccrirrick they may be interested in coming as they have mentioned it before. They have stayed at the hotel before also.

I could be up for this one. I think I'm at the UCLH near to that time but will check.
Need a permit to launch though?

Neil launched his 5 metre at the hotel on the jetty, no permit needed there. At menai for larger boats, evidently you need a permit but it is monitored by porth daniel who own a marina 20 metres up the road. They only monitor it when they are open.

If weather was bad, people could just talk stories at the pub.

Another option may be to do it at conwy again if there are a lot of people who are up for it. Though you waste a good deal of mileage and fuel getting across and back from conwy. Also, you are restricted there by the tides.

Bangor Pier or Conwy is fine with me, I am staying at a cottage in central Anglesey, Is there somewhere that I can get a visitors mooring for the week?

tiger - mooring for the week

Not sure about the whole week, when neil mcrirrick came down he just used an empty one for two nights, but was close enough to keep an eye on it from the hotel.

I will ask a friend down there if he knows of one by the pub that is available for a small fee/beer.

Failing that you could contact Porth Daniel at Menai Bridge or ABC marine at Beaumaris, they undoubtedly will have someone who could rent you one for a small fee or have one themselves that they rent out.

Failing that, Porth Daniel will do storage and launching/recovering for the week im sure. Safest easiest option, but obviously costs.

Hi All

If the weather is good it looks like Monday 10th will be best option for me, high tide is around 1400 so setting off about 12.00 looks good. If its a little rough on the west coast we could always head to Holyhead around the East coast and back
