Think I'm going to have to drop out of this one which I'm pretty gutted about...

Unfortunately I think I'm gonna be working.

Hope you all have a safe and fun time.

rest assured, I'll be thinking about it and generally stropping around and being in a huff all week end!

Right folks Metcheck is giving 26 mph wind from the SW on Sat and lots of rain. Thats not going to be pleasant with a course of 210 degrees to Alderney.

What are peeps thoughts ?

Well the boat is loaded and waiting even had the engine serviced 10 hours early. but as my son is at uni my wife as volunteered but only if the weather is manageable . I will make my decision Thursday/ Friday. wont be much fun for her if its raining and rough.

Interestingly, the same met site gives only 13mph at Yarmouth and 18mph atAlderney!

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/...yarmouth&day=3

Perhaps take it steady on the way there with the smaller boats in the wake of the larger boats; we should have good weather for the return passage predicting 10mph and sunny.

Yes been having a look at Plymouth and Portland this morning, big differences from using "Solent" as a search location. We are still on for it. Likely to meet the odd shower so we will be taking the motor cycle helmets and go wearing full oilies.

Camp site is grass over sand on a slight slope so should drain well if we have a shower rather than looking something like "Glastonbury"

How inconsiderate to schedule A level exams either side of the Ribnet Alderney cruise.
Would love to join you all but I am chained to my desk for another week.

Have a good un!

It's always windier in Alderney than elsewhere. You can almost guarantee it'll be a Force stronger in Alderney than Jersey, and we're only 30 miles apart!

Depending upon the weather forecast, the willingness of the Rowland family aka Pete 7 and co. to venture across & our general resilience come the weekend we are still planning to make it to the Isle.

Of Alderney.

We are never again camping between the lighthouse and the Sunday mornin clay pigeon shoot.

Alderney Taxi

I have'nt read all of this thread so forgive me if this has been mentioned before but when I was in Alderney in the 1st May bank holiday the taxi had no pontoon to land on and was stopping at 5pm.

The pontoon should be fixed by now but you may want to check.

Sorry cant turn the light out but will pray on your behalf that there isn't fog. The Lighthouse has the most powerful foghorn you have ever heard. It is also 400/500 yds from the campsite!

Pontoon now in place. Water taxi runs later than 1700 hours. Er, exactly when it finishes "depends".

Yes. We were camped near it on a previous trip. It was a dark and stormy night. Oh and foggy. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! every few minutes along with a bright light sweeping the area was a little difficult during zzzzzs-time.

Any latest weather updates? He's nailing down stuff on the boat.

Solent Softies.

ok, am on the road now till Sat, so probably no access to PC till then.

I understand 1000hrs on Sat, just outside Yarmouth harbour is the push point (i.e. be there just prior). Pressing at 1000hrs, no faffing.

Come on, join the fun.

I will expect about 5 Ribs out of the 30+ who expressed interest. Prove me wrong ................go on.........

See ya there
