Okay Chris,

Your welcome. Further info will follow. All we ask is that if you do drop out. Even at the last minute you let us know so we're not all hanging around for a none starter. Mobile Phone numbers will be passed around nearer the date.

I'll put you on the list anyway.

Regards Nick.

Okay Ian,

I've put you on the list.

With regards the paperwork issues. I'm sure over the next few weeks we'll get the exact details ironed out. It does seem rather confusing what the RYA have said. I don't have a radio competency certificate either (I don't know what it is), as for VAT if your boat isn't brand spanking new then I would have though common sense would have said the VAT was paid ages ago. Might be worth digging out receipts for any expensive electronics.

Next week I shall E mail Alderney and ask them exactly what documentation they expect to see from us.

The SRC (Short Range Certificate) and the Restricted VHF Certificate both actually detail 2 things if you look at them. Firstly, the have "Maritime Radio Certificate of Competence" on the front, then on the back "Authority to Operate".

There are instances where someone might get the "Certificate of Competence", but not the "Authority to Operate" (for example if they are under 16).

Jim,

Cheers, good to get some expert advice on VHF. That clears that one up.

Anyone want to be a VAT expert ?
