It would be good to catch up Brian

Would have tried to blag a lift already had I been around but its a long way from Cyprus [where I will be having a trip down memory lane in June] to Alderney.

I'll keep on eye on the thread and if dates move may try thumbing it.

Before we decide to blob out, is there anyone from Salcombe / Plymouth / Brixham etc interested in joining in?

Hi Milo, yes, it sounds good. The boat is (or rather will be in a few weeks time) moored in Salcombe, so I'm sure we could arrange a meet just off Brixham somewhere. Will it be just the two boats, rendezvousing with the others in Alderney?

Not sure yet. I'm hoping both of mine will be there and also to rally a few more from here to join us.
depending on the route and timings etc maybe we could converge with some/all of the others further out in the channel...
guess we watch this space and stay in touch

Alderney Trip

Count me in,i live in weymouth & have cruised there many times before & think it is a stunning place the most unspoilt of all the channel islands. I have a Ribcraft 4.8 with 60 Yam in build at the mo it will ready first week in March (fingers crossed) & am confident if they can get around england in one the 48 nautical miles across channel is a walk in the park (small boat, big balls) could meet mid channel or i can arrange launch & trailer storage (at small cost) for those who want to leave from here (its the shortest passage to Alderney from UK) dont mind when ill just fit work in around it, im easy. Spike.

ICC Requirement.

Thanks for all the offers from those who are RYA members. I've got the info I wanted now.

The RYA state that we do not require an ICC to visit Alderney or Guernsey.

However we are required to have the following documentation.

For a UK Registered vessel visiting Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney you will need to carry on board your Ships Registration Papers, evidence of Insurance, proof of vat, vhf licence and radio competency certificate.
Due to the Channel Islands not being in the UK or EU, it is treated as
foreign. You will need to make sure you fill in the necessary CustomForms, you need to complete the C1331 form and post the top copy in a
Customs Box before departure and when arriving back in the UK you need
to complete part 2 of the C1331 form (this is explained on the form).
This form can be obtained from Revenue and Customs, www.hmrc.gov.uk or
telephone 0845 010 9000.

So a little prior paperwork preperation is required. But hopefully this little reminder should have us all sorted in time.
