I think it's still too early to call, the situation seems too unstable yet to predict a clear pattern. Fingers crossed though.

Your not wrong there.

Windfinder add an F to it's forecast for the entire weekend!

My own prediction is that the North Sea low will move further north and the Atlantic high will move east.

Well we have just arrived jersey. Absolutely fine all the way to north minquiera cardinal when it roughened a fair bit. We were well in sight of land so it was very annoying that what is usually the last fifteen minutes was 45mins+ almost as long as the other 32 miles!

We will attempt to find beds for the evening and will head off tomorrow morning ASAP, en route alderney. Have already fuelled, so all set to go

Friday outbound looks ok, even Saturday Sunday return not great with a westerly decreasing 1 f between Alderney and mainland.

Not that I'm going home Sunday

I like the term postponement, not cancellation, if the weather doesn't play ball

How's the work progressing?

Thanks Mainbrayce - obvious question - currently how much would petrol be with the discount?
As long as the weather is OK, I'm hoping not to need fuel until Guernsey (or Jersey if we get that far), but I'm sure others would like to know the likely price.

Anyone else know what the current petrol price is in St Peter Port, Guernsey, and if we get the option, is it usually better to fill up in Guernsey or Jersey?

Thanks
Trevor

At the moment the weather is looking OK for us.
BUT...if anyone does postpone their trip, we are looking to do the same again for the end of Alderney Week - leaving the Solent on Wed 3rd, Thurs 4th or Friday 5th of August so we get to see the procession, bonfire and fireworks on Saturday night. We're hoping to stay in the Channel Islands / French coast area for the following week but don't have firm plans as yet.
Anyone wanting to join us for any or all of this will be welcome!
Trevor

Work has finally started thank god, sounds like they think a fuel injector broke up and dropped into the pot which may have caused the failure

If we miss each other at the floptilla then I do hope to be back up for some of Alderney week. It would be great to see you in Jersey though and I'd be happy to show you some of more interesting passages and offshore reefs etc

Is it the same engine (sbd I think) that had an occasional misfire @ April 2010?

The current petrol station pump price is £1.405 and I can discount this to £1.31. However, our supplier may get more stock in this week and that could change either way. Unlike Guernsey and Jersey we have only one supplier (ie no compettion) and are stung by carriage costs. I'd love to be able to offer more but....... Having said that if any of you are interested in any VAT free chandlery or little 2 stroke outboards let us know and I'm sure we can arrange a floptilla discount! Just make yourself known to staff in the shop and we can give you 10%.

Good memory you have there! That turned out to be a melted wiring loom so not connected to this mess. I have had to replace a few injectors in the last year or 2 but on both engines. I'm still not 100% sure about what's what anyway as all the info I'm getting is 3rd hand as well as in french

We shall be listening out. Have a good trip, weather looks like a steady F3 with some rainy squalls.

Looking a bit better for Sunday now but still watching carefully.

Our current plan it to leave Needles (3 boats) / Poole (2 boats) at 11:30 and meet at a point equidistant between Poole and Needles and a bit South, then turn for Alderney. We'll probably be at the Needles early so that we can gather the Southampton / Gosport boats together. I expect we'll be there to say hello to the ribnet group. I assume you will be heading straight across from the Needles so we'll be following on a very slightly course but not far behind.

Just called Premier Service in Jersey, it's currently 88p in Gorey and 90p in St. Helier.

95p in Guernsey

Was it 130 or something in Alderney? Mainbrayce's post has mysteriously disappeared

Looks like Jersey is the place to be then

Didn't they have a trans-channel fuel line for the liberation of Europe?

Willk probably has the plans somewhere, it should be possible to find it.

We are going to be in St Peter Port this weekend (flying down rather than boating) looking at a possible "next boat"

Good Luck to everyone planning and have my fingers crossed for some decent weather for us all!
