There is an orienteering event being organised for Sunday the 22nd, if anyone fancies that and is still around by then?

Ah... I can see 12 pubs making it a bit more difficult then, especially leaving the 11th

Is there anything left of them after these winds and rain?

The breakwater one lasted very nearly 5 minutes!

Their longevity is not helped by the unfounded, yet persistent, rumour that one of them has a handful of £50 notes in the centre.

Never mind that, the ALDERNEY VEGETABLE, FLOWER & CRAFT show starts on the 21st. Go on admit that's what you lot are really going to Alderney for

Daniel, nice to hear from you and would be good to see you in Magellan Echo.

I'm going to have to pull out of this unfortunately. I was really looking forward to it and had the insurance sorted and everything. My sonhas just let us know that he is having his graduation on the 20th July so I won't be able to make it on that date.

Have a great time, maybe next year.

Still very tempted by this - but how many small boats are going? Mines a 4.7m 70hp combo.

Martini will know better but I would say at least 1.5 litres per mile. So with 120 or so miles that's 180 litres min.

I've done a quick check on PC Planner, and Cowes to Alderney via the Needles is about 75 miles assuming you don't deviate from a straight-ish course.
Unless it's dead flat and you cruise at 25kts I'd agree with Erin that you'll probably need to allow 1.5 litres per mile so I'm guessing you will use about 115 litres each way.
Fuel in Alderney is about the same price as in the Solent so unless you have a huge tank I'd suggest you add a bit of fuel in Alderney for the return trip.

The new owner of The Moorings has asked me to pass on his ideas for your arrival and catering arrangements, let me know if this is worth investigating?

I've always quite liked sitting in the Sailing Club beer garden patio at arrival time so we can see everyone turn up and have a welcoming Ribnet beer. Maybe do that for an hour or so then we can mosey round to the Moorings for more beer and nosh.

We don't have any fixed plans yet - so yes - it's worth looking at.
We'll want to rendezvous at the Sailing Club when we arrive to check the quality of their home made cakes and afternoon tea hasn't gone down hill!
As for suggestions for Friday evening and/or Saturday evening, feel free to pm or e-mail me and I'll see what the consensus is with the "almost definites" and put a plan together.
