6th Annual Plymouth Pasty Run - 26th May

Folks

As it's cold, wet and windy out I thought I'd look at dates for the 6th Plymouth pasty Run.

The plan for this year will be to partake in a pasty and cup of tea on the 26th May.

The intention will be to leave the Breakwater Fort at 13:00, arriving in Looe or Salcombe (decision to be made nearer the time) for 14:00.

We'll enjoy the sights, sounds and pasties then run back for a recovery on a rising tide - HT is 17:00 ish

Any questions please do ask

Andy

Thanks Andy,

Sounds good,will stick in diary.

If a Cornish Pasty Run, will join at Plymouth.

If a Devonian Pasty (or Sausage Roll) run to Salcombe, I'll head out from Torbay, and will be happy to co-ordinate an Eastern start point (as we planned last year) if there any wanting to do an Exmouth / Torbay / Dartmouth - Salcombe run.

The sea conditons MUST be better than in 2017!

I personally don't like Looe and its tidal and not very pretty! Much better option and greater flexibility to Salcome and the chance to explore the river Avon, Bigbury and Hope Cove.

If I have taken delivery of my new Ribeye would like to join in.

Looe gives a great option for a pasty though. It's more about the run over and back.

That said Salcombe is top of the list so long as weather allows.

Be good to have you there.

Looe is great for a pasty....if there are any left after others have raided the
shop.

Andy is right - it can be a fun run down to Looe and back.

Run to Salcombe is also a good day out.

Ive been on here for what seems ages and never really taken part in any of these events, but having spend many years in Salcombe and venturing out the estuary down to Dartmouth and Hope cove, I would love to take part in such an event.
I volunteer for a Search & Rescue charity in bucks as well as help out the guys at Datchet Sailing club, so im sure some of them would be keen to take part.

Please can someone email me or reply here as to what your requirements are to take part, me personally have a 5.8 Avon Adventurer with 140 Suzuki on so should be comfortable.

Would be great fun and an adventure for us.

Hi Butters,

The Pasty RUn is a great "starter cruise", a 5.8m with a 140 should cope easily. I've done it in a 5.3 with a 90HP, as have other smaller ribs. it'sagood run for getting some experience with company.

It about getting comfortable with maybe going further than normal and meeting new ribbers

If you start to feel uncomfortable, or conditions start to worsen, there's no shame in turning back either - I've done that before as well when my crew became uncomfortable.

You'd be most welcome to join us.

Andy,
What your view - Salcombe or Looe this year?

Where are the hundreds of ribnetters partaking in this jaunt?

Evening

I was hoping for Salcombe, it makes for a lovely run. Watching the wind currently as there is an Easterly forecast, which if it drops or pushes back will eb fine, but if it stays where it is.....

Monday is looking better weather wise, we'll keep watching and hope we can go as planned.

Should be about 6 boats I think looking at the other places, trying to establish if any fancy the Torquay option.

Can make either Sat or Mon, either Looe from Plymouth (tides allowing) or Salcombe from Torbay

Folks

Been watching the weather and unless mother nature throws something else at us this evening the plan is;

A - launch Saturday as the weather doesn't look too bad, however if the wind does what it's saying and makes the sea too lumpy, run up river to Cotehele and have a pasty there, we're on a rising tide so perfect time wise.

B - if we go up river, go to Salcombe on Monday as it's the better of the days with no wind. We'll just need to leave an hour later to ensure we can launch Plymouth wise.

Hi Andy,
I agree weather tomorrow is looking a little "fresh" off the coast.

I'll now plan to do something out of Plymouth on Monday - tides aren't good for Dartmouth launch & recovery: Brixham's out due to Brixfest.

Ideally join up with you - and anyone else who's game - and run to Salcombe.

Hi All,

Did your pasty run go ahead last year, and will you be planning a re-run this year?

If so i would very much like to join you for a day out and give the new boat a decent run.

Hi Sprocker,

We did do a pasty run last summer - it was to Salcombe. I went Dartmouth-Plymouth, met up with the Plymouth guys & ran with them to Salcombe on the way home.

Not sure what Mr. Treerat is planning this year yet, but there is sure to be a pasty run.

I'm regularly out from Dartmouth / Torbay in my RC585, always welcome company on a run. Salcombe, Plymouth, Lyme Regis & Fowey all covered last year

I'm always up for a cruise in company, so please let me know when you're next planning a visit to the area.
