I love douglas, was over there again last week for business, I really want to do this trip, providing I can find a) enough crew, b) a suitable tow vehicle + driver

I can't forget how strong the wind is though! I went to put some empty chip papers in the bin, and the window blew it straight through and miles down the street!

Then a run round the island by car another day- restaurant at the calf of man with panoramic windows viewing the seals and the overfalls is not to be missed. Tuff life-glad its me whats doin it

I have been doing a little research and have decided on Isle of Whithorn as our definite launching point.
I will be booking into the steam packet inn on the waterfront which has a boat park in a field immediately behind the hotel that will take as many boats as are likely to turn up and then some.
Its £30 pppn which is about the same as any other B&B within about 5 miles of whithorn that I have found.
There is a new slip which is usable at any state of the tide 100yds from the inn and it also just about the closest launching point north of the border for IOM.
So we will be booking over the weekend into the inn and committing to going, anybody else that wants to go across at the same time is welcome.

Guys,
time is marching on and its not too long till the IOM. I realise its still too early to commit for some folk and weather can always throw us a wobbler but since there is a likelihood that we may all be converging on IOM from several different directions there are two questions I have that would help planning for the day.

Has anybody talked to the marina about us all turning up on the day?
What time are we all going to converge on Douglas?

The common time of arrival means we can all work back from then to work out timings for launching/leaving and all be there roughly at the same time.

I am.

I was rather hoping Cypman and Brian would do all the complicated logistics work and I'd just tool in for an early Luncheon.

It would be nice if there was someone on hand to catch a line for me at the marina...

Hey, whatever, Willk.
I'm listening.
Just waiting for some more inputs but I am sure we will be there to tie up your boat for you.

Are you coming to Peel first?.......or going straight round to Douglas?

We are going straight to Douglas but rather than arrive at a different time to anyone else was hoping that a common arrival time was being decided.
We are going weather allowing but it would be nice to meet up as a group and watch the races
If there is a arrival time I will work backwards from this for our arrangements and, if necessary will contact the marina for a berth.
Its not too long now.............

My current plan is Depart Ardglass 1000hrs with aim of making Douglas (southern route) for lunch 1230-1300hrs.

No further talk this side of the pond - thon Tonymac has gone wile quiet (puk puk puk)

Bruce, would it be worth starting a List, in Knot Yet Stylie, for mooring and departure points?

I would love to tag along with you lot from Ardglass. Are you going there and back on the same day?
