I intend, like the aborted trip this year, to go out and back on the same day.
The plan was to moor in the marina and go see some of the TT.
We will be going from solway and its only about half the distance, planning on staying the night before on the mainland and leaving early Sat, returning later the same day.
I hope some of the northern contingent want to do the same thing and meet up with the shandy drinkers on the island but if necessary (and the weather cooperates) we will come on our own.
I am starting to look and book dates already for next year, anybody else up for it from Solway area?

Bruce,

There is a few of us thinking about heading over in 2 RIBs probably from the solway area we would be intending staying a night or 2 though.

Do you have any knowledge of slips in the solway area?

Not personally but there seems to be a good one in Isle of Whithorn and I intend to book to stay here the friday evening beforehand unless something better comes up for launching.
We should start talking about launching points and have a scotrib.net meet to go across at the same time!

Sounds like a good plan to me, I will speak to the others who are planning on go and sus out exact numbers.

What weekend would you be planning to go sat 5th or the following weekend, by looks of the website both have racing on i think the second weekend is the main races though.

The general consensus seems to be the 5th, it makes sense to all go the same day and meet up as it is a bit of a laugh having a huge number of boats all together.
I am still open to suggestions at the moment as it is early days.........

I could be up for it, subject to getting pistons back inside the engine, baby, etc etc......

As a thought, laucnching form the Solway, would you be slightly quicker / cheaper just motoring in the rib to somewhrere like Portpatrick for an overnight? I just ran a quick route through the GPS cruncher, as a random example, Largs - P'patrick is about 60 Nautical miles. - call it 3 hrs on a good day. I forget where you launch for Clyde stuff, but based on Largs, that's going to be a good 60-70L of fuel if taken at a reasonable cruising speed. I'll probably burn 40 of diesel just getting the boat to the solway.......

As for launching, I think there's a slip on the West shore of Loch Ryan. Memory says it's a boat club who will charge you for use, but won't complain as long as you pay them kind of thing.

Can't commit yet, but will keep an eye on the thread.......
