Stolen Sailing Yacht

Hi All,

I know that this isn't a RIB, but as so many of you are out and about as the season starts, I am seeking your support to keep an eye out for a yacht that has been stolen from Gosport.

Not only is this absolutely shocking, but it is also a very busy charter vessel that was also commissioned for this years FastNet.

Details are as follows :-

Bavaria 46
Catagory: Sailing Yacht
Make/Model: Bavaria
Craft Length: 14.02m
HIN/Serial No: DEBAVD46G9K405
Date theft reported: 19 Apr 2009
Theft Location: Gosport
Description: This is a standard white / blue sloop rigged Bavaria yacht with twin helms. Boat name is 'Lady Nadia' engine is a D275 Volvo Penta serial 5103905641

Please do keep an eye out - I know that this is a big ask as most people on the water have their eye on the business in hand but anyone pottering about is a pair of eyes...!

No doubt the name has been removed from the stern but do look at any Bavaria 46 to see if the name has been removed or any other suspicious 'repairs'.

Blimey, thats a big boat to steal. Any other identifieable marks ? Must be a steal to order as this is too complex for the average joy rider.

Thieves are imbedded in society, even knowledgeable ones, and you'll never know who you speak to sometimes .. sad but true

I'd guess that it'll be long gone by now. We've had the odd one nicked from Falmouth over the years, Spain is usually the 1st stop. The name and numbers are removed en route.

Dont these things ever get fitted with 'trackers', or is it just too hard to hide them
?, but if its a commercially rented asset, I'd have thought it would have been the norm ?

Good question. A couple of my cars (which are considerably smaller than a yacht) have trackers - you can even ping them on the internet to see what they're doing. I would have thought a tracker would be easy to fit on a large boat.....

My mini digger has one, it's under the floor plate in a box the size of a biscuit tin. Your Pikey plant nicker would never find it.

They're the size of a packet of fags now, and use very little power, much more concealable , The tracker monitor packages are very effective, I took my car to pick up my truck recently, got to the truck dealers and loaded the car on the back of the wagon, and returned to my yard, unbeknowns to me the office kept getting called every 10 minutes to warn of an unauthorised movement of the car with the ignition off
