Honda outboard engine stolen - Oban area

Hi, we have had out rhib engine stolen from the Oban area in the past week. It is a Honda 4 stroke 90 HP engine. If anyone hears of anything or sees similar for sale would be very grateful if you could let me know. Whoever did it has totally destroyed the rhib in the process and being a uni dive club we really cannot afford a new one and we are not convinced the insurance is going to pay out but we wont know until Monday when we can speak to the Sports Union.

Sorry to hear that. I've shared on the stolen outboard feed on Facebook. Theiving scroats - hopefully this ends well for the club.

It was outside a house in Benderloch. I'm trying to get more information from the guys in the club who were over this weekend. It looks like it was cut off the transom. Here is a pic of the RHIB itself but you can see the engine https://flic.kr/p/rq3q9i

Serial number is Bbbe 1004440. No distinguishing marks that I can think of I'm afraid.

It was stolen very recently - within the past week.

The description of that item would make me suspicious "honda 90hp four stroke outboard engine power trim 4 rib power speed fishing boat"

The seller is dealing in used boats, outboards & marine equipment if you look at his other items for sale & feedback comments. Not casting aspersions but It's hung on the back of an old rib that it's too big for with only a couple of bolts & has no fuel tank. Could just be hung on the back of a boat to make it look more legit..

there is a load of these knocking about in this part of the world, legit ofcourse.

Is there any distinguishing features or bad scratches/paintwork anywhere that would make it easily spottable and i'll keep an eye out on the clyde?

On the other hand, an outboard that age and mint would just as easily stand out if you still can't think of any marks etc

cheers
