200 Suzuki - Mudeford

From Dorset Police today;

Dorset Police report that a 200 HP Suzuki outboard engine, valued at £15,000.00 has been stolen from a rib moored on trott moorings up stream from the jetty at Mudeford Sand spit.

It would appear that a small grey Quicksilver tender was stolen from Mooring E4 in Mudeford Harbour in order for the offenders to reach the attacked vessel and steal the powerful outboard engine.

Police do have records of the stolen engine serial number.

The victim is certain that the theft took place on the evening of 9th September 2010 and reports that the offenders have cut through a strong chain that secured the vessel to the mooring and also cut through a transom bolt lock in order to remove the outboard engine.

If you recall seeing any suspicious activity in the area of the theft on the evening of Thursday 9th September 2010 please contact Dorset Police quoting crime number C:10:C:39571.

The rib was cast adrift once the engine had been stolen and washed up near the salt marshes on the Hengistbury Head side of the River Stour.

Seems that locks etc were just cut ! Second big Suzuki this year from round here ....

suzuki 200 hp MUDEFORD

You may think 15k is too much money for that engine but if you saw how much damage was done ripping it off the stern the total cost is more likely to be 20k. I should know as its my boat, wake up join the real world.

Sorry to hear about your loss, you must be gutted.

Mollers is actually a respected member of this community, and despite living in the middle of nowhere does actually frequent the real world.

I suggest you save your comments for the scum who stole your engine.

Nasher.

I'm fully awake and a paid-up member of the real World thanks mate. Awake enough to know that the new price of a DF200 is nearer £10k than £15.
The OP suggested that the OB claim was in the region of £15k and did not mention that transom repairs were included in this total.

Are you now suggesting that the transom repairs could total £5-10k?

Ease off on the insults next time.

I was feeling generous towards an established member getting dodgy comments from a first time poster.

Either way, a gutter re the engine and I feel for anyone who has something they've spent hard earned cash on, taken by scum who have no respect for others!

I hope your insurance pays out enough whatever that is to get you back to the status quo!
