Does this mean the Garfish is now boatless would hate to see him walking up and down the beach watching the waves wondering were his pride and joy is.

I would imagine it's now in the process of becoming ultra secure.

I popped over to Russell Watersports last weekend, partly with a view to keeping my boat there occasionally, and partly because I'm nosey bugger.

In all honesty, I was quite impressed with the site, and I would happily keep my boat there. The site is an 'island' in the middle of a lake with a single access road, controlled by 2 gates. There is 24 hour CCTV coverage of the site, and access to the site is only available when the staff are on site.
It is in a very secluded spot, completely invisible from any nearby roads, there is no possibility of opportunists 'chancing' upon the place.

The theft of the jetskis was done with pair of 7.5 tonne lorries and hiabs and was a well planned exercise. Perhaps if the site was more publicly visible they would not have had the opportunity to spend 3 hours loading up without being caught, but on the flip side a visbile site encourages vandals and opportunists. It's worth noting that the CCTV system did have a tape in it and the theft was all recorded.

I'm not gonna pretend to be a security specialist, but I think the site offers good value for money, and is as secure as any (more so than a lot) of the sites I've looked at, despite this break in.

Cheers
Matt

P.S. They're not paying me to write this

Update

Taken from the hampshire police website:

A rare boat stolen by thieves in a raid on Russell Watersports in Eversley in North East Hampshire last Wednesday, November 17, has been recovered.
The boat, a blue and white ‘Sea-Doo 200 Speedster’ which is one of only five of its type in the country, was being towed by a vehicle in Essex when it was involved in an accident. The boat on its trailer was unhitched and the vehicle left the scene.

Essex Police identified the boat, worth around £27,000, as the one stolen from Eversley and forensic tests have now been carried out on it. The boat trailer was damaged in the accident but the boat was left unscathed.

Police are still hunting those who carried out the well planned raid which netted the thieves around £200,000 worth of jet skis, watercraft and other marine equipment.

Anyone with information about the raid is asked to call Detective Constable Leighton Thomas or Hamish Walker at Aldershot CID on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

You didn't miss much!

The jist of it was that a BMW was used to tow the hardboat away and a couple of 7.5ton trucks were used for the rest.
