The manatee was the mysterious mermaid! There is another version of a manatee but the name escapes me (probably coz it's 2.30am) but has a dong in it........if you'll pardon the expression! (Doo-gong....ah feck it.....something like that anyway)

However this all depends on what country you come from as the english porpoise was also reputed to be a mermaid hence the bad luck for killing a porpoise.

Pick another question it'd be far easier than wading through my drivel!!

OK The Tie Breaker.

Pic 1 is a place that used to have a ferry run from it...........to
Pic 2 is where the ferry used to run to...............
Pic 3 i.e. the ferry ran from the forground to the place in the background of this picture
Pic 4 The ferry stopped because they built this bridge. The bridge became toll-free this week.
Pic 5 is just a pretty picture of a general view of the area

Now for master brain of rib.net:
1. What is the name of the place in the foreground?
2. What is the name of the place in the background?
and as a real tie break
3. What is the name of the Harbour Master in Q.1?

Don't really know but here's my guess:

Kyle of Lochalsh (Scottish mainland) & Kyleakin (Skye).

Harbour master's name: Dougal McDonald.

RIBase
Oh dear, oh dear !!
The first two parts are correct, it is Kyle.
But where did you get those names from?
you wouldn't be trying to bull me now would you?

The HM has been John McCrea for the last 15 years. And he still is cause I just rang him up and checked!!

I will just have to go away and scratch my head and think of another one. Took me all night to think of that one. Topical though because of the stopping of the toll-fee this week.

Moi???

Actually Richard suggested ringing up but I was too chicken. I thought Phil had won - he sounded convincing! No hurry to think of another Brian - won't be on the 'pute for a few hours now - Christmas shopping to do!

Tie break suggestion

Ref. Pic 5 Cyanide tied upto a fishing boat.
The next day Cyanide was lifted out of the water and had her outdrive leg changed. How long from crane turning up to lifting out of the water, changing leg and putting back in water did it take?

54 minutes?

P.S. How close do we have to be? Spot on? Within 5 minutes? Within an hour?

P.P.S. Hello Newfoundland! Hope you & Laura are all ready for Christmas. I'll get Richard to reply to your e-mail!
