XJ Rig only

This is today on the 303 from Twick to Penmarlam where the SR will be staying from now on. Saves picking up pieces of trailer every time we jump onto the A30/303.
This time only the one mudguard fell off.
Why does this happen? New bolts, nicely nipped, not too tight, and it's only the mudguard ones that do this. But they shear, one by one........all the time.
No more.

Have you seen the age of that SR? Not posh. I had to use garden wire that I had lying around in the boot to reinforce the remaining mudguard.......stayed with me for 100 miles.
The one that flew off actually "flew" into the hedge on the 303 near Chard.
Does anybody know how to age them based on hull shapes or tube fittings?

Ahhh well, had that ten years now, 210 000 miles and an absolute gem. Used every day for everything. Including U-turns to go back and look for missing trailer parts.
By the way........how good is it when you indicate and people behind you flash to let you out? It shows the lightboard is working, and that is just cool. Only happened a few times today mind you, the rest of the time the indicators flashed at twice their normal speed or the failed brake light warning came on.
Lightboards are just crap aren't they?

Has it not got the serial number stamped into the top of the transom, starboard side?

What kind of drain plug has it got?

That's the thing Nos, no numbers. It has two small drain plugs either side of centre about a foot and a half apart. They don't look original to me as they wouldn't let the hull self drain whilst under power, however the glass work around them is perfect and I cannot see evidence of work or older drain.

Expanding or screw bungs?

Any sign of a drain into the flooding hull from inside?

Screw bungs, but only 90 degree turn, in transom.
On the floor inside is an expanding bung to the flooding hull beneath.
There is no drain from the "floor" to the outside. Only through the expanding bung that then drains to the flooding hull and then through to the transom.

I don't think the screw bungs are original then-only ever seen them with no transom bungs if they have a drain into the flooding hull.

Someone will probably know the rough age if it's got the floor drain. I reckon probably late 80's, but that's a guesstimate.

I do like the nice orange ribbons tied round it and one even has a bow in it
Probably add to the bounce of the boat and trailer giving the mudguard more of a chance to let go
