Wakeboarding with a 6.5m Ribeye

Bought myself a wakeboard a few weeks ago and have been doing some practice.
Was a such a great feeling when I managed to get up out of the water on the third attempt (with no training or advice!)

Been out three times now and getting better each time... Here are my videos:

How did you manage to persuade Harry Enfield to drive the boat for you?

Great to see you enjoying yourself and getting the success you want. How did you attach the towing rope to the rear of your Ribeye, and was it easy to keep it safely away from the propellor? Many thanks in anticipation.

Looks great Steve. I've never tried that or towed anyone.

I guess the rope floats which keeps it away from the prop?

Any dangers in terms of keeping clear of other boats in the water? Top speed 20 knots for towing someone?

I haven't used my boat in soooooo long...

Yep.. The rope is a special floaty rope that stays on top of the water. We've got a Y shaped bridle rope, that clips on the built in loops either side of the engine, then we attach the towing line to that. We keep the engine trimmed right down, so far enough below the water to not be a risk.

You always have to keep an eye out for other boats of course... they are the danger rather than yourself! We have done our pracitising in Osbourne Bay (between Osbourne and Wootton to be precise) which is a designated waterski (and wakeboard, and towbable) area... so in THEORY everyone should be wary of this. Saying that, you still get the odd idiot like the yachtsman who tried moaning at us the other day... duh!

It really is a great feeling once you get yourself up out of the water.. it's like er.. floating on water Highly recommend it!

How come you haven't been out on the boat lately Neil?

Unfortunately my son is just a bit too young to come out with me on my own (he's 8) and my wife and daughter always seem to have other plans when the weather's nice... It's a bit frustrating to be honest as I'm itching to get out.

That is a shame you can't get out as much as you'd like, I have similar frustrations for different reasons. Perhaps you could advertise in the Crew Wanted section http://rib.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54 if you find you have the chance to go out?
