Ugly Rib ?

A strange looking rib spotted yesterday with off set wheelhouse, not sure about the power being 2 x 9.8hp outboards, will it get on the plane ?

Interesting. That wheelhouse sure looks snug! With just 20hp on the back, it's just going to tootle around the harbour. Doesn't have enough torque to pull the skin of a rice pudding!

Not really, if it's a work boat that is never going out the harbour there is no point in having big expensive engines that are never going to get used properly. There's a big cabin rib up here (10m+) with a 30hp on it. It's just used as a glorified tender as far as I can see.

Yep it's really surprising how little power is needed if you're pootleing about even with a really big heavy Boat in sheltered water.
Just seems a bit incongruous with all that offshore gear radar and Cabin and stuff obviously it's had a differnt past...and maybe future.
Still.....Handsome is as Handsome does!

The 2x9.8 rig looks like the sort of thing that is used around here on mussel farms. It probably had heftier OBs in a former life, the ply door suggests that it no longer goes very far.

River boats that never go near the sea often have tiddlers pushing them along. 50ft gin palaces with a pair of 120s lost in the engine bay.

That's what happens when you send a spec to tender........... and it gets " Value engineered" or its a test bed for a marine electronics manufacturer..................
