The Great Arisaig Adventure

Hi guys.. not only did I start my boating season early this year .. I have also started my nomadic life style early too.

Yup.. its official.. my liver is functioning normally again and to celebrate I’m back on the beef burgers marinated with lashing of the best “gravy” that money can buy

I stayed at Cave Caledonia .. (rumours say you can check out but you can never leave it.. and Im finding its true)

From there I watched amazing cloud dragons floating across a golden sky

I then took my 2.75m F –Rib and explored almost every inch of the coast from Ardnamurchan to Loch Nevis. Weather varied from bitter cold east winds ..wet rain .. blue sky and warm sun. The winds went from flat calm to breaking waves around Force 4. I covered around 120 miles there and back as shown on the map. The 6HP outboard used around 20 litres ..so it was a very economical adventure

This 3 minute intro video covers 2 hours of that adventure

Although the sunset has no boat in it .. I hope even the hardest boater will feel a little seasick if you return and watch the forthcoming videos.

I will post them here as I get the footage assembled ..so do look back for updates to see some of Scotland’s finest SIB’ing area .. The Arisaig Area

Best regards
The Gurnard

You know some of us have to work to keep your tiny pension paid. You might at least pretend it was rubbish!

Thanks everyone for looking in and commenting ..its very much appreciated.

I would love to meet you again for a Guinness or three Maximus ..like our last meeting at Arisaig

69cmw HH Spartacus and Stevem..thanks for the kind comments ..im delighted you enjoy watching the videos

Hi Pr1tch ..good to see you too. I know you are heading to Arisaig in the summer..so you will find its even better in real life than on the big screen.

Hi Poly .. Im self funded for the next four years..then I get a state pension at age 66. However I agree the taxpayer paid a hefty bill for my NHS treatment last year ..so I do owe you a Guinness or three too

When Im on my adventures ..time means nothing. Im happy chugging along in the slow lane ..so took my time going to Loch Ailort and arrived in the afternoon. I generally beach launch from several of the large laybys as I can park overnight and still be close to my boat left on the beach.

For info only .. there are two slips in the area. The public slip at the start of Loch Ailort. Its has a drop off so only good for three quarters of the tide.

And the slip the local fishermen use at Glenuig. Dont hold them back as its in steady use .. but you can use the slip.. just give a donation to the box in the shop for the privilege

This map illustrates my route of Day one. It was only 15 miles return but a lovely introduction to the area.

A word of warning .. Loch Ailort is a shallow sea loch. At low tide..it can be around four foot of water in the main basin. There are rocks and reefs aplenty ..so drive carefully to keep your prop in one piece.

Here is the video of Day One ..hope you enjoy watching it ..I enjoyed making it.

Day two will follow when its made

Surely the cost in the premier storage is reason enough!

Hi Donny

Really pleased to hear your liver is sorted and you're back to being able to enjoy the gravy again.

Superb video as ever, will send me off to slumber with pleasant dreams.

Hope to catch up soon for a dram or three.

True enough Paul. But thankfully the hike in cost is next year. Got fixed up for alternative closer to home and cheaper than present cost[emoji106][emoji106]

Hi again guys .. again.. thanks for looking and commenting on the videos. Its appreciated

Hi Wilk ..its great having a working gravy filter again .. I keep to a pint of gravy now .. my days of a pint of whisky are over.

Thanks for the comments Jambo Kaman HH and Xk59D ... Day two is now finished and attached below

Hi Kingsview.. great to see you looking in too. Perhaps we will bump into one another again on motorhome tours of the west coast

Day two..and I covered around 28 miles exploring Loch Nan Uamh and the Sound of Arisaig ..stopping at the skerries off Arisaig village before returning. It was still a cold east wind but it was light ..and also off shore ..so the waters were calm

This is the map of the route

And here is the video

Do come back for day three ..where I venture into the badlands of Moidart !
