Great to see Goat Island and the rest of the area again... of course we chatted on a thread a couple of years back re our visits decades ago.

Re Loch Ailort being shallow. Yes I remember that well and being new to the area at that time had a couple of worrying returns around sunset as the tide had dropped. I was unsure just where the route would be between stones and boulders that seemed very near the surface in the area it bends a little south about half way down the loch.

Hi A1an .. I passed it and have some video of it but this time I didnít land. There were two cars parked at the walkin layby and I could see someone moving outside the bothy so didnít stop this time. I have photos from old of the inside.

Hi Fenlander ..I thought of your pooch on the fort wall as I walked it..so you were in my mind when I landed there.

Stevem Im sure you will enjoy your adventure..I think its the best kind of boating ..cheap and can land anywhere.

Hi Willk ..I need to try and get back to Dublin for the real stuff ..the tins or exported gravy cant quite cut the mustard IMO

Hi Maximus there are a few more videos to come ..the one in Loch Nevis will bring back memories.. you will just have to come back soon.

Hi beerbelly..I know that campsite..I also relocate in day four video to Portnadoran site

Thanks to everyone else who watch the videos..

Here is part three. I moved launch site to Ardtoe ..simply because I use the car alternator to recharge a leisure battery which in turn charges all my camera gear etc.

Forecast was for 10 mph winds and a bit of rain. Wind still from the east so its sheltered offshore waters.

A map of my route

And the video

Day four will follow when its edited.

I hesitate to intrude on your narrative too much Donny but your trip this time really brings memories to the fore as our stay at Roshven was the first time, after several years taking holidays in the borders, we ventured past Glasgow to see the West Coast.

The boat we used around Loch Ailort was a GRP fishing type hire boat from Dalilea Farm on the shores of Loch Shiel. I well remember, after we found it had been delivered to the Roshven foreshore ready for us, driving round to Dalilea to take them the payment. Taking a short diversion on my return I parked up where the road stops just before Castle Tioram and looked across Loch Moidart. I could hardly believe such places existed.

Also we have looked at and wondered about holidaying at this cottage at Ardtoe very close to your launch point. https://www.cottageguide.co.uk/tigh-na-mara/ It's on the possible list for the future once circumstances allow us to travel north again.

Thanks so much for the videos.
